Bugger

My stupid computer is going to have to get fixed and I fear they might keep it for like a month. There’s nothing to be done about it. It’s still under warranty so the repair should cost nothing, but it’s going to be very inconvenient for you and for me.

The power socket’s loose. I was hoping it was the cord, but I bought a new cord and that didn’t fix the problem. The computer still charges, but only if I jiggle the cord around considerably, then I don’t dare touch the thing for fear of upsetting the connection. Right now the cord is actually scotch-taped in place. It’s only going to get worse; I only noticed this problem two days ago and already it’s worse.

This repair requires someone to crack open the case and solder the socket back in place. I know people who are handy with soldering guns, but opening up the computer would void the warranty, without any remedy if my amateur repair person screws up. I’m afraid there’s nothing to do but turn it in to get fixed.

The last time I had to send my computer in for repairs, it was out for twelve days. And right now it’s the holiday season. Bugger.

I have no one to blame but myself either. I’m the one who kept tripping over the cord and yanking it out of its socket all the time.

Have you thought about using a public access computer, like at a library? You can do anything on there that you can do on your laptop.

Same here. My 4 year old keeps pulling the cord out from my laptop and it is slowly getting screwed up. Lil brat!

You know, there are days where that seems like an excellent correctional method for this house. Mine is 4 3/4, and while he leaves the computer alone, he sure can be lippy.

uggh! I just had that happen with my laptop! the problem was that the hard drive wasn’t recognizing the charger anymore. I thought it was just a loose wire.I had to get a rental for a week. That and the repairs cost a fortune because not all of it was under warranty. However, I can write them off as business expenses. The good thing was I got it back in about a week…however, I had to get the data restored from my old hard drive.

I have had this happen to two Sony Viao laptops. Needless to say I stopped buying that brand. Hope you het yours fixed quickly because I’m already having withdrawals from you being on vacation.
