Loren Herzog

Loren Herzog, one of two men convicted of killing Chevelle “Chevy” Wheeler in 1985, Cynthia “Cyndi” Vanderheiden in 1998 and one other person, is about to be paroled. His partner in crime, Wesley Shermantine, was sentenced to death and Herzog got 78 years, but most of that was tossed on appeal and he copped a plea to manslaughter instead. 14 years. Well, now those 14 years are up.

Initially is was announced that Herzog would be out on July 25. But the police say there was a “clerical error” in calculating his sentence and he’s not due to be released for “several weeks” more. This is very unfortunate. The man is a monster and suspected serial murderer.

This is very bad news. Herzog is a monster, and he’s going to commit murder if he’s free – he’s still quite young enough to be a very dangerous offender, never showed remorse for his actions, and is thought to have been responsible for more murders than he’s actually been investigated for.

He is also a suspect is the disappearance of Gayle Marks from 1988. The way she went missing fits their MO. Interesting that they delayed the release date. Hopefully they are working on some charges from his past that will keep him in prison.

Kevine and Emily – If you have information connecting either Herzog or Shermantine to the disappearance of Gayle Marks or anyone else, please contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office, and your State Senators and Assemblymembers. Please see recent articles in the Lodi News Sentinel.

Hopefully, the authorities are trying to find enough evidence of some crime he was suspected of committing way back when, which they can now bring charges and can keep him locked up. Like they did with serial killer Coral Watts.

This POS does not need to be released in this county. Just makes me sick that he will be placed in a very small town south of Susanville and there are no job prospects for which he can support himself. What the heck are they thinking? He should’nt ever get out of prison.

would just like to say That I believe that the
officals in lassen county are making a huge and gravely mistake releasing this man into their county. He has already been banned from San Joaquin county, and Teheme county. The judicial system by law and the state of california say that can’t keep him behind bars because he has done his time.
This man was sentenced to 78 years in prison, and
because of a glicth in the system regarding a video
intergation and lack of evidence they let this man plea bargain to just manslaughter and reduce his sentence from 78 years down to 14 years, when he already was convicted of murder and the 78 years to spend in prison. This man has not been reformed and like a tiger or a lepoard will kill again and when this day comes, I believe the people that paroled him to lassen county are removed from there duties.I just hope that all the hard work that the residents of lassen county pay off so that
this man is moved to some other county and let them deal with it.I personally feel putting him alongside all the other killers in the world and placing them on a faraway remote Island would be
still a luxory they wouldn’t deserve, because in all
reality they deserve the death penalty period!

Is it just me or does he bear a canny resemblance to the composites of the Original Night Stalker/East Area Rapist? Do a search for the above in the image section of search engine showing the composites over the years of ONS (they think he may have had a friend with him sometimes too) & then do an image search for Herzog & compare his photos over the years. Especially the young first composite of ONS & Herzog’s older photo with burr haircut. Remember.. hair can be changed & ONS was young when he started out but look at ears & facial characteristics.

Is it just me or does he also bear a resemblance to Michaela Garecht’s abductor from 1988? Not sure where Herzog was at this time but the composite may resemble what he looked like in younger years.

He does. But I never heard about him having anything to do with young girls. I think he always preferred adult women.
