Thanks to everyone who wrote saying Charley made it on CNN today

Here is the article in question: Police get break, identify sex offender, in 1975 missing girls’ cold case. The missing girls in question being, of course, Sheila and Katherine Lyon.

CNN actually emailed me asking for a live interview, but I had to beg off. I’ve got a stomach bug, you see, and didn’t want to risk projectile-vomiting in front of the entire world.

    Sorry you’re not feeling well.

It’s interesting that this POI is not the infamous Tape Recorder Man so often linked to the Lyon sisters.

I’m amazed at the number of cold cases involving multiple missing persons (Jimmy Williams and friends; the Uden family; the two girls found after decades in an upside down car in a creek; the McStay family) have been in the news in the past few months.

Sierra LaMar’s alleged kidnapper/murderer, Antolin Garcia-Torres, has been indicted. He is going to be arraigned very soon and a trial date will be set.

The defense and prosecution have been doing some legal wrangling for almost two years and now we finally have an indictment, which removes the need for a preliminary hearing (which is what the defense has been trying to delay this whole time).

Also, I’m not sure if you’ve already heard about this, but divers are searching a lake for Sierra’s remains. They’re being very tight-lipped about it and won’t even reveal which lake it is, but say that the area has always been ”of strong interest” to the case. It’s probably not a coincidence that this search is taking place at the same time the grand jury was working on the case (probably a last push by prosecutors to find Sierra’s body before the indictment is handed down):
