This week’s featured missing person is Carina Lynn Karras, twenty, missing since December 31, 2005. I have lots of pictures of her, ten in fact, but very little info on her disappearance. She was taking a train to Las Vegas and I don’t know if she disappeared en route or after she arrived.
Given that it’s Las Vegas and with Carina being a young woman and it having been twelve years, I’m concerned for her safety. I wish I knew more about this case.

I wondered the same thing.
These mug shots could be taken in Illinois, so she could be already involved in sex trade back home, what was her relationship with her family? If it was not good, she may simply move to Las Vegas, where she could earn more money in this profession, and cut off her relation with her past
That was my thought, Marsyao, that she relocated to where there was more money.
I can not find her facebook page, and there is no indication her family is actively looking for her
When you search her on-line a picture pops up on MySpace, showing a female leaning against a window. She is holding a fistful on money, with a M/B holding a flip type cell phone.
It appears that the picture was taken near downtown Chicago, with the what used to be the 1st National Bank of Chicago building in the left hand corner.
I can’t get a good view of the female who said just call me Carina Karras. So it made me wonder if this woman is involved in a certain trade. I find it interesting that she was last seen getting on a Metra train in Grayslake.
So we have no proof that she ever left the state. Her train most likely arrived at Northwestern Train Station. There is no mention of how she and her friend were supposed to get to Las Vegas. It makes me wonder what the Chicago Police Department has on case report HM-104353, from their investigation.

Who left these notes?
We don’t who her friend was, where she lived. So something might have happened to her along the way.
Also many years ago, certain individuals used to target young girls arriving in Chicago on Greyhound and Trailways buses.
So might have changed her mind, or as someone has mentioned become involved in human trafficking. Her pictures show someone who might become a target.
Several years ago, I was on a Special Grand Jury for about a month. Although, being a former police detective. We heard testimony from a prostitute who was part of a group of girls being held in a suburban Cook County residence. She was part of an a major prostitution ring. It was interesting to read a few months later that authorities took the ring down.
That’s why I mentioned the picture in my previous email.
Oh, enough for the human trafficking, she was already in that trade! And why some pimps would held some sex workers in a house against their will ? what the reason for this kind of redundancy and extra cost for security ? That makes little sense
Sex workers can be trafficked. She was only 20 when she disappeared. Pimps often restrict physically their sex workers. Easier to administer the abuse and forced drugs. I think traffficking is a plausible theory for this case.
No, BABS, majority of the pimps do not physically restrict their “girls”, looks like you are confuse sex workers and sex slaves, vast majority of pimps are small time crooks, having no more than 2 or 3 girls working for them, they did not have any means to have some kind big “house” to keep girls or hiring some security to keep eyes to his girls 24/7
In regards to the two missing girls, it makes me wonder why these investigative notes were sort of hidden. However, there have been concerns about local law enforcement. Especially since they were involved in the death of one the girls brother.
Hopefully these notes will break this case open and closure for the families involved. I hope that these investigators will figure out why these notes were were hidden, or maybe misplaced.

“Carrie has a MySpace page that she last updated at 3:27 am. on December 8, 2005, with a blog post titled “Where have all the cowboys gone?” Since then her page has been inactive.
On MySpace she says that she was born on June 30, 1985 in Park Ridge, Illinois, an affluent Chicago suburb, and is of Greek heritage. She lists her interests as dancing and says she would like to work in the entertainment industry.
Carrie posted several pictures of herself on MySpace. In one she is holding a cat and is wearing jeans and a black jacket similar to the attire that she was reportedly last seen wearing.
Other photos are potentially ominous. In one Carrie is sitting on a windowsill wearing a low-cut V-neck sweater and short skirt. I tried very hard to find her arrest records, so far I can find none, that makes me wonder whether her records were removed by LW or this was not her real name ?

Tyler, if she has an arrest record then contact the investigators assigned to her case. Most likely they work at the Chicago Police Station at Belmont & Western Ave, in Chicago. Their office is on the 2nd floor on the police district side of the building. There is courr side of the building also.
Her name is Carina Lynn Karras. Her birthday is June 29 or 30th, 1985. I’ve reached out to the bf she was with at the time a few years ago and she blew him off the evening she went missing. It’s hard to not speculate at this point. She would not have a Facebook because it wasn’t really out then. She did have a MySpace but she barely posted anything on there.
I would assume thay if she had been arrested under her real name, after she disappeared, it would have triggered a hit on NCIC. As a missing person, she would been entered into NCIC by the reporting agency.
However, if she is using an alias name, and maybe a different date of birth, then would be hard to link her to her original birth name. The only thing would be having her fingerprints on file prior to her disappearance.
There are a number of person search websites, that will provide access to various court records. However, they charge for their services. I don’t know the cost or accuracy.
Do you believe she has an arrest record.
I believe so but I think, not 100% sure, it was before she was 18. She hasn’t surfaced anywhere. Her father died and we haven’t been able to tell her. I don’t understand how someone can just vanish.
Peter, thanks for the follow up on the picture. I could not get a good view. I assume this picture was taken in Chicago. It makes me wonder if the Chicago Police Special Victims Unit has this information.
Patrick, I wish I had screen captured those MySpace pictures, I can’t find them anymore. They do suggest that Carina was involved in online prostitution.
Obviously, the three men seen in those photos should be interviewed, but there is no way of knowing if they have been.
Peter, it might be her MySpace page is title “just call me carina”. Their is a website called “peelyou.com”, which identifies a Carina Karras, unknown age living in Evanston, Illinois.
I may and try to reach out to CPD. Who knows what information another part of the department might have.
Her family haven’t given up! We want closure! Whatever the case may be. The story is jacked up and I’ve reached out to the people you are speculating about. The police have as well. They were dead ends. She may have had a double life for all we know. She was young back then and when you’re young you make mistakes. She just vanished. Out of thin air like she never even existed. We love you Carrie. Her mother misses her terribly.
I’m a former investigator, and I have been looking for her as well. Didi she have friends in the Ft. Lauderdale area of Florida? I wonder if she’s there working as a dancer or an escort.
Tyler, if Carrie has arrests as a juvenile, those records are normally restricted. So it might take some legal reason to obtain them. If she has a juvenile record the police should be informed. However, they may have better luck getting them.
You also reference an LW, as maybe having them erased. I don’t know who they are, or what involvement he or she has on Carrie’s disappearance.
There is a Jane Doe in Madison County, IL that kind of looks like her. She was found in 2006. I wonder if this was checked out… I took screen shots, but am unable to post them here. Email me if you need me to send them, but you should be able to find the site with a quick google search. I checked train routes too to see if it was possible for the train to go past thus location, and it seems feasible.
For her to get from Grayslake, she would have to jump on the commuter train (Metra), and take that downtown. She then would have to get to Union Station to board an Amtrak train, to Las Vegas. She also, could have boarded a Greyhound bus.
But, their were pictures of her taken in Chicago, which gave the impression she was involved in prostitution. Being from Chicago, I recognized one of the buildings in the picture background. I would assume it was taken from either the North Loop or South Loop area of downtown Chicago.
So, if she got on a Amtrak train, I assume that information hopefully would have been released. The other thing is that the Chicago Police Department has the case, and not Grayslake Police Department, which bugs me a bit. Since she was last seen there supposedly.
I looked at the picture again. It had to been taken from the South Loop area of Chicago. I should have noticed it before, but part of the Harold Washington Public Library is visible. Also, part of Jones Commercial High School, is also visible. Both of these buildings border State Street. So it appears the picture was taken from a building, east of State Street, and a few black south of Congress Parkway.
That photo was taken from an apartment on the highest floor on the northeast (Balbo Street at State Street) of the South Loop Club Building (a college-type bar and grill on the ground floor).
