More tableting

As I said earlier, in preparation for the site getting re-vamped and modernized, I’m going through every case and purging outdated ones and correcting typos and updating as I go. I’m onto western cases now and have checked out everything except two states, except New Mexico and California. (California has over 2,000 cases to look at. Eep!) I run down the lists on my tablet, and any case that needs attention I add to the browser’s reading list. Then I take the tablet to Orville and begin work.

I’ve purged scores of cases, as Carl Koppelman can attest to.

And my checking all these cases for updates has yielded quite a bit of information, as my recent updates indicate. One of my “few details are available” cases got a huge injection of details yesterday, suggesting a self-proclaimed serial killer whom I’d never heard of before might have been involved.

(A kind of amusing detail about the DiCicco case: NamUs said he disappeared from Kalispell, Montana, but an article I found from a California newspaper said something about him working in Columbia Falls, Idaho. I went to Google Maps to see how far these two cities were apart, and discovered there was no such city as Columbia Falls, Idaho! There was, however, a Columbia Falls, Montana. I chalked the Idaho thing up to a mistake. Good thing I was curious enough to go to Google Maps or I’d have had Dwayne DiCicco working in a town that didn’t exist.)

In a case I will update today, I found out someone made a documentary about the case, and the movie’s website has some police notes about the disappearance.

But oh, how I am sick of doing this by now. I wish I was done already.

I also wish we could get everything in order to stop these cases from ever happening in the first place.

We need to secure our young, our vulnerable, and our everyday lives.

I can only offer my gratitude to you. For your perseverance, and attention to details.

I know I can only wish we will one day eradicate the evil in our humanity. Ending war, and violence, would be a major step for human beings

Even if we eradicate evil, people will still go missing. Accidents will still happen; people will still drive their cars into lakes; dementia patients will still wander away; people will still walk out of lives they find unbearable, etc.

I am less ambitious than you, though I do wish the case of Brooklyn Peck would be solved in 2018, I go though a lot of missing people case, and some of them would get on my nerve, and this one is on the top of my list

Thanks for the work you do to update the details. I also get frustrated with the lack of details on many of these missing person cases.

It’s nice that you can find the errors in the public information on these cases and correct them.

Hopefully, it might provide one of us an investigative lead that we can run with. I am frustrated with the lack of information on Thomas Clyde O’Daniel case. One of my pet peeves is the lack of a date of birth. This applies to NAMUS. They provide a bunch of stuff, but not that.

    • Meaghan January 1, 2018 / 11:03 am

NamUs used to provide DOBs but then they stopped. I try to get the date from other sources whenever possible.

      • Justin January 1, 2018 / 2:21 pm

I don’t think NamUs ever intended to provide the DOB for public viewing. There was a fluke where it showed up on the posters that you could print out at one point, but when they found out about it, they removed the DOB from them.

I hate that NamUs doesn’t provide DOB’s. Happy New Year Meghan, thank you so much for all your efforts. I appreciate your data so very much. I know CA. was hit with a huge Crisis especially in the 70’s young adults and teens just missing, male and female. CA really needs your help so thank you for you accurate depiction of these events and the data we have in your system. Bless you Meaghan, in the Humane sense of the word not religious as I don’t want to offend anyone, you are needed in this world and a voice for the missing. xo~c

The cases you purge, are they cases that are just old, have next to no details or solved? Just curious?

    • Meaghan January 1, 2018 / 7:38 pm

They’ve been removed from the source. That usually means the person was found safe, but there’s rarely any news about this.

Walking in the prencsee of giants here. Cool thinking all around!

    • Meaghan January 2, 2018 / 6:22 pm

Yeah, I’ve seen that, but frankly I think it’s rubbish and no law enforcement officers that I know of have endorsed this theory.

Can you provide a list of cases that you have “purged”? Thank you!

    • Meaghan January 4, 2018 / 3:59 pm

Do you know Carl Koppelman? I sent lists to him every day of the cases I was purging that day.

      • Kailan January 12, 2018 / 9:29 pm

Didn’t know the forum rules allowed such branliilt posts.

      • Meaghan January 12, 2018 / 9:33 pm

Lol it’s just that Carl could provide this person with names of all the cases I have purged recently, better than I can, if asked.

      • Jim_m January 13, 2018 / 3:44 am

What word is that, “branliilt?” I am not familiar with this word. Perhaps it is meant to signify brilliant? Or does my trusting side believe this to be something else entirely?

Meaghan. Might I be so bold as to ask you to repost the significance of this part of the process? It made complete sense to me on how it all currently works.

Thank you for all of your time, and such hard work, in focusing our efforts on finding our missing.

We should not have this type of evil in our midst. But how do we fix something so horribly blatant? How do we make all of us more humane? Human beings. Homo sapiens. One planet we call Earth. Carl Sagan lovingly called our home, “The Pale Blue Dot.”

He also recognized that we will never reach our adulthood as a species if we continue neglecting our planet. Our only home in this universe.

Think of our ancestors, wondering if their great grandchildren might someday eradicate a human’s thirst on anything to do with war.

Sorry. I know this is way beyond injecting too much. I just wish we could get all of the evil out of our one human species. Unless you believe any of that nonsense about the varied colors of our skin, we really are all related. Somewhere along that path that led us to this ‘right here, right now’, moment of significance.

      • Meaghan January 14, 2018 / 7:37 am

Kailan was accusing me of name-dropping.
