An idea

As I have groused about before, it seems like nobody ever reads my FAQ and I get a lot of emails from people who have the wrong idea about me and what the Charley Project is and what it does. This is a waste of their time and mine.

An idea has occurred to me: maybe, I could put my contact email address on the FAQ page, at the BOTTOM of the page, and nowhere else on the website. Perhaps this would get people to actually learn a little about the Charley Project before they sent me their misinformed messages.

Or perhaps they would wind up just quickly scrolling to the bottom of the page, get my contact info and not read the rest.

Thoughts, anyone?

I have a better idea. How about don’t have your contact info right on the FAQ page? How about you have your list of rules and conditions and whatnot, then you have a “continue” button at the bottom of the page. WHen people click on that, you have a little something that says “I have read and understand the FAQ’s and what the site is for” and they have to click the “Yes I have” button before they can get to your contact info? Some people will still just scroll down real quick and blow through the clicking process but I bet it would cut way down on the number of idiots writing to you to complain about stuff they should of understood from your faw.

the above sounds good too. I was going to suggest you just post a statement next to your email address that most questions can be answered on the FAQ page. Please refer there before sending an email.

      That’s a good idea

I think it’s a good idea. I think that people have this idea that CP is about this, that, and the next thing. They don’t do any research about it.
I think that it would be beneficent to have a way of contacting you.

They won’t read it no matter what you do. They’ll just continue to fire off their misinformed messages.

Yes, I think they would just scroll without reading maybe put stuff in bold and underlined.

Or put a multiple choice form like: a. general comment b. update c. question about a case d…. etc you would be able to go through messages more quickly. The best would be an automated answer if they select some stuff telling them you don’t deal with that lol.

Oooh, now I feel like a dweeb because I email you stuff when I see updates from local MP cases. If it’s ever bothering you, feel free to email me back and say so. *looks around sheepishly and hopes it’s not me you are speaking of*

No, no, updates are fine. I like it when people send me updates; it makes my job easier. I’m talking about people who send me “tips” that need to go to the police instead of me, or people who write to ask me questions which are already answered in the FAQ, etc.

Meaghan, I have tried to contact you whenever I see a mistake, but I don’t think you’re getting my emails. There’s also an email I sent where I thought there was more info on one of your MP’s that could be helpful to you.

Last email I got from you is October 27 of last year.
