Well, I’m off

Yeah, so Michael and I are leaving to catch our flight to Poland in a little bit. Until we return home on June 5, I’ll only be semi-available at best. We’re not taking our smartphones because of security concerns (of both the “pickpocket” and “government snooping into our data” variety). I’m bringing my tablet though, and we will have wifi in the various places we’re staying in.

You guys be good while I’m gone and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Have a fantastic time, and look after yourselves. Looking forward to hearing all about where you’ve been and what you’ve seen. Have a safe journey!

Well, that makes all my other comments irrelevant, so disregard.

What fun! I am very jealous! Can’t wait to hear all about it when you return.

Safe travels! Take some cool pics, try the local food, take some of your business cards, enjoy!

OMG, where do you think you are going? I would be much more concerned about travelling in the US than in Poland. It is perfectly safe in there, no snooping government (wouldn’t necessarily say the same about the States, tho) and pickpockets can be found everywhere. The food is tasty, beer is cheap and people are nice and friendly. Have a great trip!

We’re not concerned about the Poles snooping, we’re concerned about the Americans snooping when we come back through going home.

That said, I am having a layover in Copenhagen right now and I REALLY wish at least one of us had brought our phones. You’ll learn why upon my return.

Everyone in Poland was extremely friendly except some jerks in Lodz who tried to rip my bags of groceries right out of my hands when I passed them on the sidewalk. They weren’t mugging me; I wasn’t threatened and if they really wanted my shopping they’d have got it. They were just messing with me; I heard them laughing as I walked away. Made me extremely nervous as I was lost and in a sketchy neighborhood. But then I found an angel in a liquor store who helped me find my Airbnb and insisted on walking me there herself!

Are you going to be visiting the concentration camps? Just asking since I know the Holocaust is one of your main interests

M and I visited Treblinka a few days ago. We’re off to Auschwitz today. I hope to hit Chelmno too. I would have loved to see Sobibor and Belzec but both are a full day’s journey away — no time — and Sobibor is closed to visitors at the moment.
