Black History Month: Dwayne Martin

In honor of Black History Month I’m profiling one African-American MP every day on this blog for the month of February. Today’s case is Dwayne Edwin Martin, a Marine Corps veteran and diner employee who disappeared from North Little Rock, Arkansas on December 11, 1987. He was 23 years old.

There isn’t a lot of evidence available in this case, but foul play is suspected. Martin had just cashed a paycheck and may have had the money on him when he disappeared, but it wasn’t much, just $148. The inflation calculator says that would be about $317 today.

It’s uncharacteristic of Martin to leave without warning and he may have been involved with drugs. This case is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Meaghan I served with Dwayne Martin in 3/5 Comm PLT. We were very close and am devastated that my friend has been missing for over 30 years. I would like to contact his mother somehow. Thank you for not letting Dwayne aka Spiderman (Marine nickname) be forgotten and prayerfully someday bring closure. Our unit comes together every other year and we miss our beloved friend.

    Higgins,

    Be blessed

My name is Trevor Gray and served with Dwayne at 3/5 Comm. Platoon. I literally just heard about Dwayne’s circumstance from Raymond Higgins, today. I hope and pray for the family of “Spiderman” and that these prayers answer the call for “Closure”. This man made the serious side of myself, smile. God bless to the family. Signed ” Trigger”.
