So what’s going on with Carole Louise Rodriguez‘s dress? This photo is said to have been taken just hours before her disappearance, but…
NamUs, which is the source of the photo, claims it’s a “purple mini dress with a print of Chinese pagodas and other Chinese decorations.” But I’ve had a good close-up look (and you can too, click on the photo above to make it larger) and the images on the dress look nothing like pagodas except for their shape. They appear, to me, to be images of snow-covered evergreen trees, snowflakes, reindeer and an all-around winter/Christmas theme, nothing Chinese.
But she disappeared in August. Why was she wearing a Christmas dress (assuming I’m correct and it was a Christmas dress)? And why, if it was indeed a Christmas dress, was it purple? It’s not a scandalous color choice but it is strange, given that most Christmas-themed clothes are red or green.
I think this has got to be either the wrong description or the wrong photo or both. But the dress is long since gone now, like Carol herself. I suppose no one really cares that much what the print on it was. No one except me.
Even modern day photos can be so difficult to figure out when you get into the small details. I put up a guy today who’s been missing only a year, and I found photos of him showing his tattoos, but they are all blurs to me except one.
When I zoomed in, I saw what *could* be Chinese pagodas on the dress, but more importantly, the man she’s standing with is wearing heavy wool or knit plaid pants (very common for this time period) and it looks like she’s wearing pantyhose (looking at her legs and feet), both of which would be out of season (and sweaty!) in August.
Pantyhose (specifically taupe colored) was mentioned in the description too.
I see Chinese character person sitting on swan and other Chinese characters doing things. I do see Trees but I think this is part of the Chinese theme. If you look at the bottom of her left hand sleeve there is a Pagoda there the Chinese character is on the swan to our left of the sleeve her right. The Reindeer are actually Cranes that you see if you zoom in drag the photo over to your desk top. There are flying dragons and some Chinese character with a hat on carrying a globe like thing too. There are some Lotus like flowers and Foo Dogs. I’m on my Mac in Photo Shop zoomed in pretty close. I think they are correct but at first glance I thought it was X-mas too.
Douglas Nowak’s birthdate seems a bit off–he wasn’t 1 year old when he disappeared.
Uh… let me go back and check on that.
I see the winter things you’re describing, but not definitively. The other lady (far left) seems to be wearing a very summery dress. Also, the white clutch and heals seem to indicate summer – especially to traditionalists who only wear white shoes from Memorial to Labor Day. I think the dress is most likely what was described, but unfamiliarity and the black & white photo make it unclear.
