MP of the week: Kamyle Burgos Ortiz

This week’s featured missing person is Kamyle Stephanie Burgos Ortiz, a 12-year-old girl who disappeared from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on July 8, 2006. She is of black and Hispanic descent.

Although Kamyle is classified as a runaway by some agencies, authorities think she was actually the victim of a suspected serial killer, Amilcar Matias Torres. He and Kamyle knew each other and spoke on the phone less than an hour before her disappearance. He’s never been charged with murder, but is in federal prison serving twenty years for soliciting sex online from underage girls. He’s also a suspect in the disappearances of two other Puerto Rican girls, Yeritza Aponte-Soto and Cristina Ester Ruiz-Rodriguez.

If still alive–which seems unlikely–Kamyle would be 27 years old today.

“…spoke on the phone less than an hour before her disappearance”

Either he is totally guilty, or that’s a very unfortunate coincidence for him. Except not a single charge of murder has been made (or if so, didn’t stick) against him. If he is the guy, he managed to permanently dispose of multiple bodies. I’m inclined to think that he IS the guy; I just hope that, during his twenty years in prison, they can find some hefty charges that stick and keep him locked up for another twenty. If not, he will be a true danger to society.

He was arrested in 2006, so he’s probably like three-quarters of the way through his sentence, assuming they gave him credit for time served. I hope they find some more evidence in the next few years.

Hi Meghan! I’ve commented on your other recent post about this. There’s two girls who went missing in Reno Nevada since 2019 both of these girls are very young and there’s seems to only one article on it. There names are Tawny and Aneesa Reed, I’ll link the article down below.
I hope you have a good day! 🙂

The thing is, I’m not actually sure those girls are still missing. The article is two years old and I can’t find anything else about them.
