MP of the week: Michelle Mulcahy

This week’s featured missing person is Michelle Meredith Mulcahy, a seventeen-year-old girl who disappeared from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 7, 1979. She left all her belongings behind, including her new car, so she isn’t believed to have been a runaway. She didn’t need to run away in any case; she had already moved out of her mom’s house and was living with a friend. There were some issues going on in her life: she had gotten involved with drugs and was dating a man who was himself into the drug culture.

I have to wonder if Christopher Wilder was ever looked at in this case. 1979 is a little before his time — his known victims were killed in 1983 and 1984 — but Michelle did want to be a model and was last seen en route to a dance contest, which would fit the profile of Wilder’s victims.

I wonder about Wilder about this too. He may have done stuff before he was ever on the radar.

I agree, Wilder could have been a possibility. My thought on it, however, is that it was more likely the people she was last seen with.
She was said to have left somebody’s home with two people (a white male and a white female, both of whom were never named). No one ever came forward to identify these people.

This makes me wonder if they were into drugs too. Although Christopher Wilder is a possibility given that he came to Florida and preyed on wannabe models, I’m more looking at the scenario of her being killed in a drug deal that went bad.
She might have left with them not realizing that she wouldn’t return. They may have been friends/dealers of her boyfriend…money might have been owed.

I could be way off base with my theory, but I feel that Michelle was harmed by people she knew.
