One red flag that immediately stuck out to me was this story is very political centered on the election and the police doing wrong. I lost my interest in reading the story because it felt like an opinion piece not news. I don’t have a TV or get newspapers anymore because journalism and news reporting have gone down the toilet over the last 15 or 20 years. But that is my opinion.
What I had read elsewhere on the government site and a few other news organizations was more in line with what the U.S. Marshals Senior Inspector Josue Rivera described. No political spin just what happened.
I also am concerned about the way the story painted the 17 year old girl as if there was no need to pick her up. She is legally considered a minor and

sorry, the cat hit the post button and you can probably tell I’m a senior citizen and don’t know how to get back to edit!
The 17 year old is still considered a minor and there was a runaway order in her. I am guessing the 17 year old and the young man were sexually active, which could be against the law in some places. I don’t understand why no one investigated who she said she was before just letting her stay at the house. It seems like a person is asking for trouble if they just allow a young person to move right in without having more information. You may think I’m old fashioned but I was always one of those kids who if I did something I really wasn’t supposed to do, I would get caught every time! Lol Anyways, that’s my take and I think the climate recently has been stirring up hate which bothers me. We all are entitled to our own opinions which is a good thing. I usually don’t speak up about such things, but I felt comfortable enough to just share my thoughts.
Thanks!
And most of those victims still live with their families.

Let’s first determine the definition of human trafficking, if that means some bad guys kidnaps young girls on the street or sneak into their bedroom at middle of night, then no, this is not how sex industry works in US, if this is about people exploit women who work in the sex industry, then sure, plenty of cases in this regard. In the US, women enter and, more important, stay in the sex industry for various reasons, don’t simplify it.like what we see in a Hollywood movie. For example, let’s say a 15 year old girl run away from her home, she lives on street, cannot find job, and maybe she already starts using drugs, what options will she have even without involve some bad to the bone gangster?

The age of consent in Georgia is 16. The young man wasn’t committing a crime by dating her. And there’s no indication he was a sex trafficker.
Why am I NOT surprised?
Yes but unfortunately I’m sure more than 39 are being trafficked in Georgia and every other state at this very moment.
And most of those victims still live with their families.
