MP of the week: Byron Davis

This week’s feature missing person is Byron Lee Davis, a mentally disabled 53-year-old man who went missing from Kansas City, Missouri on May 18, 1993. If still alive today, he’d be eighty years old.

I wish more information was available about his mental disability; there is a big difference between, say, someone who functions at the level of a toddler, and one who functions at the level of a twelve-year-old. Davis appears, anyway, to have been able to wander around his neighborhood alone. Unfortunately some people living in the area took advantage of him and he was sometimes the target of cruel jokes.

Foul play is suspected in his disappearance. It seems likely that one of those nasty neighbors did something to him, perhaps in a robbery attempt or in a “joke” gone horribly wrong.

Zacharey Wilks’s mother posted on her facebook:
To those that love and forever will miss Zacharey, day 1,006 brought us the news we never wanted to hear. We have had positive DNA result that concluded Zacharey died at the scene of the car wreckage. We don’t know how or exactly when he died. There will be a lot of assumptions, but no one knows. Our family is broken we never wanted this day to come. As always love and respect each other. Keep his memory alive in your hearts, and may he rest in peace knowing he was loved.

Zacharey you will always be my sunshine…

What is unclear to me from this announcement is if they actually found his body, or part of it.

Since they found DNA to match, they must have found part of his body at least, just some blood or trace would not be enough proof that he was dead

    Here’s another odd coincidence.

There are two missing Michael Anthony Johnsons. One of them is a young Caucasian man who we t missing in 2015 at age 24. The other is a middle aged African American man who went missing in 2017 at age 54. One would hope there isn’t a bizarre serial killer out there who kills people who have certain names.

There are actually three missing Michael Anthony Johnsons. You forgot the kid that was abducted by Franklin Delano Floyd. The names Michael, Anthony and Johnson are all absurdly common. Sometimes it happens.

Once, back in the MPCCN days, there were two missing black teen girls from New York City named Carlina Francher. Completely unrelated cases.
