MP of the week: Charles Dart

This week’s featured missing person is Charles Christopher Dart, a fifty-year-old disabled veteran who disappeared from Fayetteville, Arkansas on March 25, 2012. The car he was driving turned up inoperable and abandoned in Florida. Dart apparently rented another vehicle afterwards, and never returned it.

There’s been no indication of his or the rented car’s whereabouts since then, and Dart hasn’t used his VA benefits either.

Do we know what branch of the military?

Ronda, I had the same question, and many others. So, I finally broke down and called the Fayetteville Police. I got an answering machine for the criminal investigations section. A Lt., called me back. He seemed to think that he may have been in the U.S. Navy, based on tattoos he had.

I also wanted to know where and when he rented the car. I was involved in navigation on a submarine many years ago. I would use the location of where he rented the car and fan out from there to where he might be headed and have to return the car. I assume he was in some sort of rush since since he was willing to abandoned his truck. Which I assume was in the vicinity of where the rental car agency.

The Lt. suggested I submit a freedom of information request to them to obtain the case report. I also seem to think that he may have driven into one of several bodies of water in Gulf County. Also, there is a major state forest east of Gulf County, which has at least two rivers flowing through it.

Do you have any other thoughts on this case?

Ronda, I submitted a Freedom of Information request for the case report the other day. So, we will see what I get. Also, I checked Enterprise Rent – A-Car to see where they had offices. I found that Panama City was the closest city to Gulf County. There were four different offices in the city. I assume that Mr. Dart, most likely broke down close to Panama City. Maybe, he got a ride. But then hopefully someone would have come forward and said I him a ride.

The other thing is that Mr. Dart, seems in a way to be traveling on the back roads, in Florida. If he was in a rush he would have been taking Interstates, unless he did not like driving on them. I sometimes avoid using certain expressways in Chicago. Especially going through downtown Chicago. I also am cheap and avoid the tollways around the city, except when in a rush.

If you have any ideas or thoughts on his case, please share them.

I find it interesting that Mr. Dart and a Patsy Ann Dart operated a business identified as McMaggie Enterprises Inc., out of a house at 841 Mattmore Place in Newport News, Virginia. It appears that Patsy Ann Dart was his wife. Yet, he was supposedly married to a Lorna M. Wadee. The house was built in 1999, and was sold for $303,500 in 2005. The business was registered as a Florida Profit Business. However, there was no information on what kind of business it was. The business is inactive.
