Native American Heritage Month: Rosalita Longee

In honor of Native American Heritage Month I’m featuring a Native American missing person for every day in the month of November. Today’s missing person is Rosalita F. Longee, an 18-year-old woman who disappeared from Wapato, Washington on June 30, 2015. Although I don’t know her tribe for sure, Wapato is located within the boundaries of the Yakama Indian Reservation.

I don’t know much about Rosalita’s disappearance, just that she left home after an argument. She is mentioned in this October 2018 article about indigenous women who went missing or were murdered on or near the Yakama reservation; her name was added to the list after the fact, and the article quotes the Charley Project as a source. The only additional info I could glean from it is that her nickname is Rose.

I got all the photos of Rosalita from her Facebook page; she enjoyed taking selfies and the most recent one was posted six months before her disappearance.

Meaghan, one of the problems with these cases is the jurisdictional issues by the various Tribal Police Agencies. They don’t have VA lot of clout, and getting assistance from other law enforcement agencies.

Also, I wonder if she was active on her Facebook page before she disappeared, or if she is still active. I am not active on Facebook in many years.

I’m not Facebook friends with her so I can only see what’s public, her profile pic and selfies. The last selfie was posted in January 2015.

      That’s in Montana though.

yes but it said she died in washington (and, she is from Montana).

HOWEVER – nevermind, though, she is still missing. I was looking through her fb friends’ posts and her grandma (Verlynn) posted in april 2017 about not knowing where she is and if she is still with us.

this is so sad. i hope she is found soon.

Her Facebook profile says she lives in Washington but comes from Poplar, MT. Poplar happens to be only a 20 minute drive from Wolf Point, which is stated as the site of burial in the article linked to above. Quite the coincidence, but she is still listed as missing though

Too many coincidences I really think her.
