Pride Month: Anthony Anterio

In honor of Pride Month I’m featuring a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer missing person every day for the month of June. Today’s case is Anthony L. Anterio, a 62-year-old gay man who disappeared from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on August 19, 1999.

(If you’re wondering why I’m adding all these men instead of women, it’s harder to find lesbian women on my site for some reason. I welcome suggestions.)

Anterio is missing under very suspicious circumstances — his partner, Tony Gillette, took his own life when the police asked to interview him. Gillette is believed to have murdered Anterio, but what he did with the body is unknown.

Anthony Anterio is my uncle. I have prayed everyday for the last 20 years that his body would be recovered, so that he may be properly laid to rest. I pray every day that someone would come forward with information that would result in finding him. Maybe your site can be the conduit to help bring him home.

I knew Tony in NYC and lost touch with him after he moved to Florida. I did an internet search to see if I could find some news about him, never expecting to find this. I am so sorry.
