Shaking my head…

Remember my entry of June 6? Yeah, it just happened again.

The NCMEC says yet another young girl has been missing for over two years and it turns out she got found quite a long time ago, something the NCMEC itself is aware of, so…

It makes me wonder how many OTHER kids on their site were actually recovered a long time ago.

Ima have to write them a letter or something because this is just stupid.

The lady on the phone tonight was all like “lots of runaways are active on social media” but I insisted she check to see if the girl was really missing. And turns out she wasn’t. *headdesk*

Please tell me she meant to say “were active on social media prior to them running away?”

No, she meant active on social media after running away, but before they are located by their families or the police. That’s not uncommon — they’ll keep posting on Facebook and Twitter stuff, but no one will know exactly where they are or that they’re really okay. A few years ago I called in two runaway sisters’ active Facebook pages to the NCMEC, and the hotline person said both girls were still missing and the cops were following their social media trying to track them that way.

The girls weren’t found for another several months. One of them had gotten pregnant while missing. Later she ran away again, this time with baby in tow.
