Black History Month: Debra Townsel

In honor of Black History Month I’m profiling one African-American MP every day on this blog for the month of February. Today’s case is Debra Vanessa Townsel, missing from Deerfield, Florida since July 1, 1980.

She was 21 years old and left behind one son. Deerfield is in Broward County on Florida’s southeastern coast. Unfortunately I don’t have any details on Debra’s disappearance.

I found a family tree on Ancestry with the following posted by Tara Lewis:

    “Missings Persons
15 Jul 1980 • Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Florida
Aunt Debra was supposed to be waiting for my mom, Dorinda, to come pick her up from a club in Ft. Lauderdale. When my mom got to the club, aunt Debra had already left. She was never heard from or seen again. Her son, Damion, was 3 years old.”

Thanks for the info. I should be done with this conversation in a week or so; I’ll make a note to update Debra’s case after that.
