Missing persons of color? I need your help!

I got a message on Charley’s Facebook page today:

I’m writing you from Karga 7 Pictures in Los Angeles, with serious admiration and awe for the work you do. I’m a producer, researching missing persons for a potential upcoming TV show, and looking for cases that we might highlight for further investigation and inquiry. The irony is, of course, that in order to justify including them in our development at this point, they need to have a certain amount of information already gathered. So often, the kinds of cases I find that have a lot of information and media attention are of middle class White folks, as I’m sure you know. So, to be blunt, I’m looking for cases of missing people of color to highlight, and wondering whether you might be able to point me in the direction of an interesting case with a bit of meat to it? 9,000+ cases is a lot to wade through and unfortunately we never have enough time to be as thorough as we’d like….

So this nice lady would like some suggestions. I have a few in mind, but I’m sure you guys can come up with a few more.

Can you name some black, Asian, Hispanic or Native American MPs who ought to be “hightlight[ed] for further investigation and inquiry”?

    I have always like Hiromi Kazuni just trying to better herself selling dolls for donation for the Church she belonged to. At least someone reported her missing. Also Guadalupe Dailey she is Amer/Mex/Asian and she was murdered by her husband leaving behind 2 children but we never found her body, very sad. As for new cases, I am not well versed I tend to focus on finding the human remains for the older ones. xoxo

      The Unification Church is otherwise known as “the Moonies,” a cult with some very shady practices. I found a Moonie newsletter from 2014 that says Hiromi Kazuni “became a martyr in the US.”. Hmmmm. Personally, I hope that she fled the cult, and wonder if she maybe had to go into/stay in hiding for her own safety.

        Wow. I did not know that. I’ll have to see about updating her case, once I’m done with this conversion thing.

    In addition to those mentioned above, especially Asha Degree, the mystery of Jennifer Joyce Barton, Brenda Moore, and Debra Kay Stewart’s disappearances is intriguing and compelling. They all were young black women who disappeared in Austin, Texas between March and May 1976. Moore’s car was found less than a block from where Stewart’s car was found two months earlier. The cases are similar in many ways, but not similar enough for LE to consider them officially connected. They disappeared under different circumstances with Barton being a known prostitute last seen getting into a van, and Stewart and Moore last seen leaving work. But they all have in common that no trace of them has ever been found. Here is a local news article about the disappearances from last year: http://kxan.com/2017/05/12/unsolved-young-black-and-vanished/

    Asha Degree and Shy’Kemmia Pate could be profiled together. Even though I don’t know of any evidence that connects the two, they are so very similar in size and appearance and disappearance. One could tie in some of the info from the findingashadegree website, the author has some interesting ideas which I agree with in general. Also she may have come across a person of interest with ties to both areas where these two girls vanished.

    Also the case of the St. Louis Jane Doe (the girl found raped, murdered, and headless who has never been identified) could be something for them to look into, especially as it ties in to missing persons (why was the girl not reported missing?)

    • terromangerro January 30, 2018 / 4:10 pm

      Some more ideas:

      Shakeima Ann Cabbagestalk (Child disappears shortly after accusing her stepfather of molesting her);

      Tiffany Michele Goines (Child vanishes in Maryland);

      Terkessa Wallace (Arkansas woman and her friend vanish on the same day, friend’s remains are found but not hers);

      Viola Brown Martin (Had been a contestant on American Idol in the same month that she vanished);

      LaQuanta Nachelle Riley (Honors student with full scholarship who may have survived for a time after vanishing based on a phone call her mother received in which a man ended the call abruptly)

      I also recall several black infants being stolen from hospitals in the same time frame, I can’t recall the names or times but it seemed they might be related and could have been illegal adoptions.
