Preston Winfrey, my new web guru, was given the honor of selecting my Sunday case this week, and he chose Brittanee Marie Drexel. Her case has been relatively high profile and bears similarities to Natalee Holloway’s: a beautiful high school student with everything going for her goes off to a resort town and is never seen again. She was seventeen and a junior when she disappeared from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on April 25, 2009. She was from New York and had gone to Myrtle Beach (without parental permission) for spring break.
In 2016, investigators announced they thought they knew what happened to her. The theory is that she was abducted, held against her will and gang-raped for several days. Her abductors planned to sell her into prostitution, but because her disappearance received such widespread publicity, they decided to kill her instead.
This theory is short on evidence, though, and although suspects have been named in the alleged kidnapping, rape and murder, no one has been charged and Brittanee has never been found.
Meaghan, maybe an interesting Make-a-List Monday could list the MPs that were supposedly fed to and/or eaten by wild/domestic animals? My Aunt just recently moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. This case disturbs me on so many levels. I hope they can get some justice for Britanee someday soon, though I wonder just how difficult proving her fate/acquiring her remains would be, given the circumstances.
The investigators have periodically focused on Shaun Taylor & company as persons of interest since October 2010, possible as early as April of that year. This came about because of the subsequent attempted abduction of another young woman, 20-year-old Randa Massey, while walking along Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. An attempted abduction for which Shaun was charged.
In 2016 the FBI stated that a they received a jailhouse statement from inmate, Taquan Brown, that he had been present at a “stash house” in the McClellanville area and saw Timothy Da’Shaun Taylor, then 16, was “sexually abusing Brittanee Drexel.”
According to this statement Brittanee tried to flee the house but grabbed and pistol whipped by Shaun Taylor, Timothy Da’Shaun Taylor’s dad, then taken back inside where he heard two gunshots and figured that Brittanee had been killed by Shaun Taylor. Brown then said that Brittanee’s body was wrapped up and taken away.
However, a review of news reports shows that in February 2012 Raymond Moody, a convicted child rapist and a violent level 3 multiple sex offender, was considered the “Primary” person of interest by the Myrtle Beach police for a period of time.
20 seconds in really bothers me, the change in the tone of the voice
is VERY suspect “I was not with her” his voice changes to soft and a not very forthright tone at all, as he says it his eyes look down.
