Article published! (But not that one)

Although the Longreads article still hasn’t come out, another one has that I don’t think I’d mentioned: on Broadly, which is like a sub-magazine or something of Vice. Presenting:

The Woman with Autism Who Built a Renowned Database of Missing People

I wanted to add that it’s also very positive for autism, folks working who have other mental health issues…nice job!

I agree that it’s a great article! I especially love the last paragraph.

Me too! The last quote is great.

Hi Meghan- I don’t always post comments because I am busy, but I read all the emails from you, and am super proud of the work you do as it allows me to research my cases. If you have a list of the persons who are not in NamUs let me know so I can get them in. I have been asked to start adding the persons whom are not in there, as they are bogged down. Keep doing your good work.
    Hearts & Stars, Christie

I’m working on a list for you. Could you shoot me an email so I will know where to send it to?

Yay! You’re the absolute greatest force on the internet, Meaghan! Thank you so much for your selfless service and hard work.

The article mentions that you find it tough to do a “normal job,” but that you don’t make any money off of the site. I’m sorry if this is too personal, but what do you do for a career? You must be very industrious to work whatever your non-“normal” job is and also keep this site up!

I’m actually not working right now. I used to but I haven’t in a long time, basically due to the things I named in the article — the autism and mental illness. I’m not nearly as high functioning as I may sound online.

When you gave them the information about how Charley started, what caused you to leave out Jennifer Mara,?

since she is the one that you took the site over from, even though it crashed and you renamed it.

Prior to this you had always said that she was a big influence and appreciated her help, and mentioned that much of what you re-started Charley with was from her crashed site that you took over from her.

I didn’t leave her out, I gave my usual spiel to the reporter including the part about Jennifer starting the whole thing. The reporter left her out. I wish she had not done so but there’s not a whole lot I can do about that.
