Susan P. asked me to re-share Elizabeth Jean Acton‘s casefile on the Charley Project Facebook page. I thought I’d do one better and do a Select It Sunday about her.
Unfortunately I really don’t know anything about Elizabeth’s disappearance. The 41-year-old woman was last seen in Montross, Virginia on August 24, 1994. That’s all I know. Wikipedia says that Montross is the county seat of Westmoreland County, but it’s really tiny; the population was 315 people in the last census. It’s in northeastern Virginia, right near the coast.
If anyone can give me some more information about Elizabeth Acton’s case I’d be most grateful.

She was missing from the Town Of Colonial Beach which is located in Westmoreland County. Evidence in the case would be from the Days Inn Motel on Colonial AVe. I worked that case so my info is clear !

I worked at the same hospital that she worked. One of her close friends said Betsy was ordered by Willow Cherry to bring her jewelry on that vacation. Wonder if her jewelry was ever found. Willow Cherry is very good at hiding bodies. Also, heard that his family may be shady. People afraid of them.
Mary, I grew up in the area and was a teenager in 1994 and I dont remember hearing anything about this lady going missing. Did anyone become alarmed at the hospital when she left one day and never returned? Did she have family in the area? Does Willow Cherry have family in the area?

She worked at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington Kentucky. She did have family in Lexington. She was in the position of Nurse Educator. She had resigned her position at CBH. She went on vacation with Willow Cherry and she never returned. Her body has never been found. Betsy was from Kentucky not Virginia. Willow Cherry has been arrested for the murder of his brother in law. His brother in law’s body has not been located. There was enough blood in the crime scene to declare his brother in law dead.
Thanks Mary for the new info. I scoured as many articles on Willow Cherry as I could find and I have not seen any mention of Betsy and his ties to her disappearance. Might have to send a few links to a few reporters and perhaps some attention will come to Betsy’s case.
