MP of the week: Michael Fauntleroy

This week’s featured missing person is Michael Lanyette Fauntleroy Jr., a 25-year-old man who disappeared from Trenton, New Jersey on February 25, 2011. He left behind a young son with a daughter on the way. Although his disappearance is a suspected homicide, I don’t have a lot on it, and the police haven’t named any suspects in his case.

Thanks for featuring this case. I live in the area and have been reading up on it. Trenton isn’t a huge city, so if he is deceased, there are not many out-of-the-way places that the perpetrator could have put his body. I’m not sure if the authorities have thoroughly checked the Delaware River or not, but I’d bet if his body is still in this area and wasn’t taken elsewhere, it is there. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the case is a priority. There hasn’t been much press coverage here in NJ.

The mother of Fauntleroy’s daughter had emailed me to make some corrections in his case; that kind of inspired me to have him as the featured case.

I’m not surprised there’s not a lot of press coverage: black men hardly ever get anything.

Wow scrap metal sales. How do you operate that business? Does he find or get people to donate scrap? Maybe he was in the wrong place at midnight finding some metal that somebody else wanted? Is it possible he was finding scrap metal in dumpsters, got knocked out accidentally or by someone and was taken to the landfil on trash day? Seems more likely, since he had previous drug arrests, that this was a drug related altercationion but it seems like the perpetrator would have harmed him, taken drugs or money, and then run off and left him. how does he disapear? Thats why I’m thinking the landfill thing. I suspect a lot of the missing may have ended up there. But I certainly hope I’m wrong. I suppose if he got knocked out, it could have given him some kind of amnesia and he wandered off. There was a guy who was found unconscious near a burger king dumpster and went years with amnesia before he was finally identified.

Offhand it doesn’t seem like you could make much money in the scrap metal trade.

Hiya Meaghan, I was doing some research on and came across some info about Hattie Jackson (d. 1961 from Washington DC). Her middle name was Yvonne, and she was 3 feet tall and 40 pounds. Article also contains a detailed description of the abductor and his vehicle, along with a police sketch.

Any mention of his vehicle? Would need a truck to haul scrap metal. Did he have it at the time, was it found, etc.

Thank you for posting this. As the mother of his unborn daughter at the time it gives me great relief to know his story is still being spread around.
