Arrest in Tara Grinstead case

In a major breakthrough, a suspect has been charged with murder in the 2005 disappearance of Tara Faye Grinstead, who vanished from Ocilla, Georgia. Her case has been very high profile over the years. The alleged killer, Ryan Alexander Duke, had been a student at the school where Tara taught, but graduated three years before she vanished. And he wasn’t a suspect, wasn’t even “on the radar” as far as the investigation was concerned, until quite recently.

Until I update her case (probably later today), content yourself with the following articles:

Reminds me of Jacob Wetterling’s case – Danny Heinrich also wasn’t on anyone’s radar from what I remember

What’s even more painful is the realization that some of the missing person cases will never be solved unless either the perpetrator or someone that knows something will speak out and probabilities of that are usually very low

Pray for her family, hope this would bring them closure

Wow. I hadn’t seen any of this at all, but I’m glad to finally see some progress in this case. This was one I always had thought should have been solved fairly quickly, and it seemed to me to have some details missing. Will be watching closely now.

Has anyone been listening to the Tara Grinstead podcast? Does this development have anything to do with that? I did not listen to that particular show, just curious if any readers here have.

I don’t think it does. The police are saying the case broke open only three days ago, and she was apparently killed in a botched burglary.

I listen to the podcast (a new episode would be aired on next Monday), I can recall the name of the suspect was mentioned in the podcast, but it is possible that the podcast encourage someone to come up and provide LE the tip that led the break in this case,

Actually the IDK piece did not mentions the podcast as having major effect on the case, leading to the tip, here is the exact words:

It’s unclear what sparked the new tip, but there has been renewed interest in the case due to a podcast about Grinstead’s disappearance called ‘Up and Vanished’

So glad that whomever it was that came forward had a credible enough tip to lead to an arrest. Hopefully this will mean that her remains will be recovered as well if the perp talks. Thoughts go out to her family and community.

I’m anxious to know if his DNA was on the glove tip they found in the yard.
