This week’s Flashback Friday case is Mirko Yug. He disappeared from Los Angeles in 1976, at the age of 49. If he’s still alive he’d be 90 at the end of the month.
I’ve got NOTHING on this guy. All my usual checks turned up nothing. Grasping at straws, I tried to find out something about his ethnic origin. I guessed it was Slavic. Wikipedia says the first name Mirko is of east Slavic origin (that is, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbo-Croatian or Slovenian), but when I checked his last name on Ancestry they said it’s German. Ancestry also said there’s only a handful of families in this country with that surname, in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
Of course, a person who disappears from a major global city like Los Angeles could have come from anywhere. Maybe he was just visiting the country or something. The possibilities are endless. And it’s been 40 years.
