The Klein kids

I had meant to put the Klein boys up on Charley today: Daniel, David and Kenneth, missing for over 60 years now. It must have been a stupendous case at the time. I mean, three little boys, brothers, vanishing into thin air like that. I bet there was plenty of news coverage if I were to start digging in online archives and, perhaps, my local library’s microfilm collection. Maybe the case has a few mentions or even whole chapters in books concerning 20th-century Minneapolis history.

Slight problem, though: none of the boys have a law enforcement contact listed for them. I would assume the Minneapolis PD is investigating, but I don’t know that for sure. Indeed, I don’t know if any LE is investigating at all. I’ve put up old cases without LE contact before, for historical interest, but I think they were all older than this one.

Obviously, giving you the link isn’t going to work. Try googling “Klein brothers Minneapolis 1951”

The article should be the second result. MPLSZine–The Mystery Issue. Page 26.

I found another article, from the Weekly World News of all places. I hope this is the only time I ever cite that publication as a research source!

Apparently, Mr and Mrs Klein had 4 more sons.

I checked back with NamUs and apparently it is the Minneapolis Police Department. I also found out their DOB. It looks like they were resubmitted as missing persons on April 19, 2016.

Let me know if you want the DOB info.

Hi, My name is Donald Klein. I am the youngest of the brothers, born 1960. I want it known that there is a contact number for any possible information and that is as follows, Deputy Jessica Miller, Wright County Police Department, Wright County Minnesota, (763) 225-7372.
She and her partner have spent years working on this case as a cold case. They have given their time and effort to do what no other law enforcement agency would do. In fact the Minneapolis Police have done nothing except to close the case after 5 days and produce misleading information to block any new leads about this case from my family and that continues to this very day. We have tried several times through the years to get the case files from the Minneapolis police department, and we have never been allowed them and never allowed access to them all. In fact Deputy Miller and her partner forced Minneapolis Police Department to reopen this case as it was illegal to have closed it to begin with. We don’t get any help from the BCA or FBI like the Wetterlings did so if you have or think you have any leads or information please contact Deputy Jessica Miller at the above given phone number, certainly do not contact the Minneapolis Police Department, FBI or BCA as it will never be acted on no matter how relevant it may be I can only guess that it would be kept from ever seeing the light of day like who knows how many other leads. My Parents spent their own money following leads and putting ads in papers, printing posters, all the things that law enforcement is supposed to do. I would like to Thank all those who have never given up and who have worked on this case. There is a book being written by Jack El-Hai and PBS.org are working on this too with a series under The Long Lost Klein Brothers.

Condolences to your family for having to go through this. I listened to the podcast. Six episodes. At the end they talk about getting in touch with the owners of the house with the basement where the then owner had poured concrete the night of the boys going missing.
The new owners were considering allowing the podcast creators to check out the basement. The new owners had no idea this had happened and their basement was suspect.
Did the new owners allow the basement to be looked at or dug up? Are there updates?

Nothing yet. With COVID it has been a very slow process. It is being worked on but it’s not like we are getting any support for our search from either the MPLS Police, BCA or FBI. They all continue to be better walls than doors. Kind of like the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his supporters/clients. I think of Epstein because there have been people like him since there were young people to be exploit and other willing to pay. I wonder how many of his victims were disappeared after being used. But we will never know as long as we have a system of injustice in place to protect his clients. It is not mentioned but I had a foster brother my parents were in the process of adopting when I was about 5 years old. One day a car pulled into our driveway out at the farm while my Dad was at work and my brothers who lived at home were gone. Me and my foster brother who was younger than me were standing outside in front of the garage when the car pulled in with two women, one jumped out from the passenger side ran the few steps and grabbed my foster brother. He and I both began to scream for our Mom who came almost immediately out the door to confront these women. My foster brother Pat was pushed into the front seat and the woman who snatched him jumped back in and they sped off with him. Before my Mother came out the two women were debating on if they had the right child and if they should just take us both. Mom scared them off before they could do anything else. We never saw Pat again. Turns out he was snatched by Wright County Minnesota Welfare Workers who, so the story goes, had sold Pat to a woman in Henepin County Minnesota who was not able to have foster children or adopt any children and from what I understand was barred by a judge from having any but her own children around her. Hence the reason for the pay and abduction of Pat from us. She ended up torturing Pat to death in about 18 after his abduction from us. The Welfare women were never to my knowledge punished in any form for their act of conspiracy.
I thank you for your interest. I will give you a little advice if you will about justice. There are only two places to get Justice one is in Heaven and the other is by getting bloody, I advise choosing the former over the latter.
