Dog sitting

I am at my parents’ lake house dog-sitting while Dad goes to Chicago to pick up a friend. Hence the lack of updates and no MP of the week yesterday — no Orville, you see. I hope there is no emergency because I am well stuck here. The island is accessible only by water, our boat is docked on the shore (and I can’t drive it in any case), and I can swim only as an alternative to drowning, certainly not well enough to make it back to my car. But I don’t anticipate anything happening and Dad will be back this evening.

So I sit reading. I read a book about Irish MPs and went online to review it only to discover my records say I read it six years ago. I had no memory of it at all. I read a book about aspirin and Reye’s Syndrome and discovered, to my surprise, that they never really proved aspirin was responsible for the condition and it might very well not have been. Reye’s Syndrome (named after a Dr. Reye who codiscovered it) has in any case pretty much vanished from the western world, which is nice.

As for MP news…well, they’ve announced a suspect in Mark Himebaugh’s disappearance and charged a guy with Shawn Spencer’s murder. I will provide links when I get back to a computer. It’s cumbersome to do on my tablet.

You’re on an Island. . . There’s no way off except a boat you can’t operate, and you’re all alone except for the dog you are watching. Perhaps you should make this the beginning of a Novel. A work of Fiction. You’ve heard about so many strange things over the year; you’ve experienced a lot; you have a way with word. I think you should consider it. I bet you’d come up with something fascinating.

I see it as the beginning of a horror story. At the end I would be forced to take my chances with either the cannibal ax murderer or the mile and a half swim to shore.

It doesn’t have to end in a horrible manner. Someone might rescue you.

It is two dogs. A Golden Retriever named Sadee (pronounced say-dee) and a black lab/husky mix named Kinsey.

Both are great breeds! I love the names too! P.S. forgive my typos… (husnand)… clearly sometimes my hands are going faster than my brain and I hit “Post” before I realize my errors – What a dummy!

How do you choose the MP of the week, just out of cvuriosity?

    • Meaghan June 11, 2015 / 5:04 am

      Just kind of randomly.

In the updates section you may want to tell your readers that they have identified the seventh victim of suspected New Britain serial killer William Devin Howell. She was Marilyn Mendez Gonzalez, 26,
who vanished from Waterbury, CT. in 2003.

I don’t believe you had added her to Charley yet. There has been some on-line speculation about the possibility he could have been responsible for other disappearances.

Marilyn Mendez Gonzalez, 26, Murder Victim.

Dr. Reye died in the mid 1970s I believe.

He did. The book said so.
