Updated the FAQ

I did a long-overdue update to the Frequently Asked Questions page, adding a few questions, removing a few and altering the answers to many. Explained Charley’s all-the-info-in-one-place deal, etc. I also put up different photographs on the about me page. The left one, previously featured on this blog, was taken at the event in Wisconsin last month. The right one was taken this morning.

I still can’t believe you’re only 29 yet wasting your youth by dressing in such old, tacky, clothing with messy hair. It isn’t that hard to look straightly at the camera instead of having it above your head and looking at some other object.

Thank you for your unsolicited fashion advice.

Actually, from what I’ve seen, the braid around the head is very trendy again now! And, Meaghan, you look great. You like what you like and you should see what I wear on occasion….I don’t think it matters when you are updating cases. Be nice, everyone!

I’ve often been accused of “wasting my youth” but never for doing so by not looking good enough.

Ha! Well, there’s a first time for everything…..

I’m on the west coast and vintage t-shirts and hair braids are a pretty common look out here. Nothing wrong with your hair or clothes at all.

Most of the clothes I wear are actually buy new; in both of the photos on my “about me” page I was wearing new clothes. I do buy not-very-old used clothing sometimes, and some vintage, mostly off Etsy, but it’s just a few specific items: some skirts, a dress here and there, etc. I like loose, comfortable clothes and long skirts. I don’t want to worry about getting cold or exposing things better kept hidden.

As for my hair…I just learned to braid it less than a year ago and frequently try out new styles. The braids-on-top-of-my-head thing I just figured out how to do. I’ve had a lot of compliments on it actually.

Meaghan – Don’t feel the need to explain your style to some troll on the blog. If we were all meant to dress and look the same – wow what a boring world this would be. You have a unique style all your own – OWN it! 🙂 I would love to see what this person would have to say about MY style… then again – I don’t really care. It’s easy to be a bully sitting behind a keyboard isn’t it? Then again they probably are looking to ruffle feathers and get attention – and I am playing right into that… ah well I hope it makes their day!

On another note – Well done on the FAQ update and the new pictures of your page. its always nice to revamp now and then! 🙂 And BTW – has your sock collection grown any?! 🙂

I actually did get a haircut yesterday, but it had nothing to do with Kaine’s comment. I have melasma, a skin condition, on my face, particularly across my forehead. If you look at some of the photos I’ve posted previously on this blog you can see it — a brownish streak. Everyone says it’s barely noticeable but I sure see it and it bothers me a lot.

Anyway, yesterday I did some research and discovered it’s very expensive and difficult to get rid of and the treatments take a long time and have no guarantee of success. I took the plunge and had my hair cut in bangs. That covers up most of the melasma on my forehead and distracts from the rest. I haven’t had bangs since I was about thirteen years old but I am satisfied with the haircut and everyone I talked to said it looked cute.

You are going to need to post a new picture with your bangs! I keep saying I am going to get them too – but like you I haven’t had them since I was probably 12 or 13 – and I am 37 now – i am not sure I could handle it! ha!

Just for you, HennyLee, three pics of me with my hair in bangs, with the rest of my hair up, down, and back respectively. The first two are selfies and the last is a picture a neighbor took of me wearing a new dress I got. (A Chinese company sent it to me free in exchange for a review. I really like it.)

        You look great! Cute pics!

Adorable! See you can rock the bangs!!… I don’t think I could do it – My hair is thick and straight so they would end up in my eyes – so I have a feeling I would just end up pinning them back anyway! lol Cute & Fun dress too! Love all the colors… and Free makes it even better! Thanks for posting! 🙂

    Meaghan,

Now that you have dealt with the unwarranted fashion advice I have one or two historical cases that fit into the Dorothy Arnold category.

Child author Barbara Newhall Follett vanished from Brookline, Massachusetts on December 7, 1939. Her best known book “ The House Without Windows” was published as a young teen. All the information I can find says this brilliant but tortured woman simply left her home one night and vanished.

I’m less certain about this one. Andy Warhol star Ingrid Von Scheven who was last seen at her mothers home in Kingston, Ulster County, New York on Sunday December 7, 1986.

Best known by her stage name Ingrid Superstar I can find no news reports or actress bio’s that state that she was ever found. Although its possible she or her remains were recovered, just never reported in the news.

In both cases there are no police case reports suggesting they re still active and neither woman is listed in NamUs.

Ingrid Von Scheven, missing from Kingston, New York since December 7, 1986

Meaghan you look so festive in that dress! That would’ve been a perfect one to wear for Cinco de Mayo and have your sweetie dance with you.

Redheads rock! And so do bangs, thumbs up to you.

(I was bummed by the snark post made here by the fashion police and the critique of your word choice in a previous entry. Good grief, what picky folks)
