Flashback Friday: Patricia Wood

This week’s Flashback Friday case is Patricia Wood, who disappeared sometime in 1976 from the small town of Swanzey, New Hampshire. It’s a very sad case: we only have a baby photo of her, though she was three or four when she disappeared, and the police didn’t realize she’d vanished for over a decade. Her father and stepmother lied to everyone saying she’d died in a car accident.

We’ll probably never know for sure what happened here, but it’s not hard to guess.

I don’t get it. You need a permit to drive a vehicle, build a home and even to hold a yard sale in some towns but nothing required to bring a life into this world and that is just sad. This poor little girl deserved so much better. SMH 😦

Ugh, these are tough. little ones that are dependent on others to take care of them. I mean her own Dad for heaven’s sake. 😦 Why couldn’t they just love that baby? 😦

Patty was my little sister, but she was taken away by her father (not my father) when we were very young and I didn’t know about her or that she was missing until I was 15 or 16 and the police had begun asking questions about her. Our mom is dead. Every so often, I scour the internet to see if there’s been anything new, but it seems that the rest of the world has forgotten Patty. I would really like to find closure about what happened to her and why. Everyone involved failed her and she deserved better.
