In their recent photoplasty, 23 Creepy Unsolved Mysteries Nobody Can Explain, Cracked has talked about Charley Project MPs Garnell Moore, Amy Bradley, Zachary Ramsay, Tara Calico, and of course the Sodder children.

You know, the last time Cracked cases were featured I could almost get behind it..this time, some of the snark is unreal. However, I did see a few details I had been unaware of. General question..the man that was killed that had the cryptographs with him, I could swear there was another case, almost around the same time, a white hunter who was also found with cryptographs in his pocket, I think I saw this on Unsolved or American Justice of some such. No, I’m not being racist. That would be very odd, two similar cases, unless I’ve just got the details wrong. Anyone?

About the Amy Bradley case…some people believe that the picture of a dark-haired woman posed seductively on a bed is Amy, but I don’t.
I’ve looked closely at photos of Amy and this unidentified woman; I see no resemblance at all. Amy disappeared in 1998 (as all of us Charley-ites know)…the unknown woman in the picture looks more like somebody from the late 80’s-early 90’s.
The teased frizzy hair, the makeup, all of it makes me think that the woman on the bed is not Amy. It seems to be a picture of somebody else, taken years before Amy’s disappearance. I’ve always wondered about the woman in the picture, her identity and what the story is behind the photo. The picture almost reminds me of how a sex worker from the 80’s or early 90’s would look, not from the early 2000’s, not to mention how “dated” the photo appears to be. Their faces are different as well. Amy had softer features while the woman on the bed is attractive but has a “tough” look about her.

Also, the case of Tara Calico…talk about creepy! The image of a young girl tied up on a bed beside a little boy is haunting.
I’ve always wondered if it was indeed her. The VC Andrews book “My Sweet Audrina” can also be seen in the photo. I once read something on a forum that was interesting; that Tara had been abducted by the same person(s) that kidnapped Johnny Gosch. They also suggested that there was a link to pedophilia and a Camp Caribou in Maine.
I don’t know if this is true, mind you…just wanted to share. Tara’s mother also observed a scar in the photo that Tara had gotten from an accident, and the VC Andrews novel which was one of Tara’s favorite books.
Could simply be a coincidence but maybe not. Abductions are so terrifying and in the cases where a person has been missing for years/decades? One has to wonder if the case will ever be solved.

Yeah, the missing persons cases here are pretty well-known, at least to anyone who visits Charley Project regularly. You can find all kinds of conjecture on Tara Calico online, but from what I’ve read, that photograph is not her, and she was probably killed close to the time she went missing.

I’ve read a lot about Ricky McCormick’s encrypted notes, there’s even a wikipedia page about them, and I tried to solve them myself a while ago…no luck though. They were probably either instructions from one drug dealer to another, or written by a drug dealer for his own benefit, and Ricky McCormick was holding on to them. I doubt they’d be very revealing even if they were solved, but it would still be interesting to know what they said.

I wonder then, if the photo isn’t of Tara, who is she and who is the little boy.

      • Melinda April 24, 2015 / 6:56 pm

I agree, Meaghan…it could very well be Tara but then again, who knows?
I think B. could be right about the girl in the photo not being Tara, though. Chances are that the person(s) who took her most likely murdered her. As with all the other cases of missing people, I hope some closure comes to her loved ones.

As to the little boy, he was believed to be Michael Henley at one point but that was ruled out when Michael’s remains were discovered.
It is certainly a mystery. The picture reminds me of other abducted kids who were tied up in photos…the 3 unidentified boys (one of whom was thought to possibly be Johnny Gosch) and also a few victims of Franklin Delano Floyd.

Tara’s eyebrows appear more rounded, even when in the down-looking position, than the woman in the photo’s. I don’t think it’s her. Probably not Amy either, but I could see the photo being later than it appears (even early 2000’s)

I do wish there was more inquiry into the picture that is purportedly of Tara Calico and the little boy. It sure doesn’t look like a “prank” photo to me, as some authorities have asserted. The look in that woman’s eyes, whoever she is, is absolutely haunting.

    • Ruth April 22, 2015 / 10:05 am

it’s hard to forget that image. How is it that these people cannot be identified? I wish billboards could be used to get exposure…I’m guessing that’s the problem?

    • CaptK April 23, 2015 / 9:13 am

What’s even more haunting about those photos is to imagine the kinds of people who are taking them.

    • Melinda April 24, 2015 / 7:14 pm

Agreed, Schmoops…if that is a “prank” photo it is very convincing. Both the girl and the little boy look terrified.

@Ruth…from what I’ve seen, billboards have sometimes been used to help spread awareness of missing persons but sadly, it’s just not enough.
So many people disappear or are abducted and never seen again; the world is a big place. And I agree, the image is definitely haunting.
Possible reasons why the girl and boy in the picture can’t be identified: 1) the duct tape partially obscures their faces; 2) they could have been runaways who were never reported missing by anyone and unfortunately, were abducted; 3) it has been a long time and maybe their loved ones are deceased.
It is also possible that they are related, but who knows? So many possibilities with some of the more “mysterious” cases.

@CaptK…very true. I can’t even imagine the horror they felt in that picture. It shows in their eyes.
And to think that somebody is taking pictures of victims is truly frightening because Lord knows what they plan to do later.

I’ve always thought that the purported Tara Calico photo was simply a photo of a prank pulled on siblings or cousins who fell asleep during a long car trip (sleeping, wake up to be tied up and mouth bound). It’s a weird prank, but not totally uncommon. The girl looks more sleepy or annoyed to me, and the book could be just something she was reading to pass by time in the car.

I believe that Tara was killed shortly after being abducted, or was killed in an accident while riding her bike and her body was hidden for whatever reason, such as the people who hit her not wanting to be caught.

Tara Calico- I’m not the one to give in to speculation and hearsay but there has to be something said about instinct based on coincidental evidence. A man by the name of David Parker Ray (now dead) has never as far as I could gather has been mentioned as a possible suspect in Tara Calico disappearance. It might be interesting for people to research it to find as I did that he not only is from Belen, NM but operated from Elephante Butte. His modus operandi seems to fit the method used in abducting his victims.(based on audio tape he gives to his victim after abduction)
Their is quite a bit more of this “coincidental evidence” out their but I’m not good a explaining it in a reply box, but the biggest one of all is a vehicle description matching what the Bernillilo County missing person report describes as being a dirty white or gray pickup with a camper shell. That was exactly what David Parker Ray had and used in at least one other abduction. The pic that has circulated of a bound/gagged girl and boy certainly seems to me to be a small bed in a truck camper.
