Select It Sunday: Kelly Dae Wilson

Selected by Sarah, this Sunday’s featured disappearance is Kelly Dae Wilson, who happens to share a birth date with my boyfriend. Kelly mysteriously disappeared from Gilmer, Texas on January 5, 1992, five months shy of her eighteenth birthday.

Eight people, including, bizarrely, the police officer investigating Kelly’s case, were ultimately charged with abducting, sexually abusing and murdering Kelly. Prosecutors at the time believed her presumed death was the result of satanic ritual abuse. But it turned out the “satanic cult” didn’t exist and all the charges against everyone were dropped two months after the indictment.

So if an evil satanic cult didn’t abduct Kelly, what happened to her? That remains a mystery.

someone was savvy enough to hide beneath the moral panic that came w/ the mcmartin era. go far enough back into the suspects, friends of suspects, friends of friends of suspects, friends & acquaintances of the abducted—& particularly tipsters, in this case—& it may not be quick to solve, but not impossible either. the stupid moral panics about nothing were a terrible, horrible smokescreen the covered up awful things done by ordinary, cheap & truly bottom barrellers, awful people, not members of non-existent cults. so very sad.

Wow, she looks like the Eldorado jane doe but I know she was found 5 or 6 months before this lady was missing. Both also named “Kelly” though. Very interesting.

Reminds me too of that bizarre yogurt shop murder case from the early 90s – it was never solved and theories behind are quite outrageous too.

Is she included in that task force that was formed to investigate the missing women in Texas? I wonder how much time and evidence was lost while the alternate theories were pursued. The scariest case, is that they always say there are undetected serial killers operating at any given time. That’s one. Also, someone in the friends and family division, though that doesn’t seem likely. Until they find her, I doubt they’ll find a reason/perpetrator.

Sounds like the prosecutors and investigators were doing some serious drugs haha

Weird, I was looking at the recently updated MP Case of Catrina Renee Jackson and was thinking she could be Eldorado Jane Doe. The photos of her alive does not resemble her, but peal back the makeup and the bright blonde hair and they could be a match. She was very freckley, about the same age. They think she could be from Florida and Catrina was wearing a Daytona Beach Shirt and went missing from Georgia which is just north of Florida. It really bugs me that there is no other information available about Catrina Renee Jackson and others. Is her family (sister) not looking for her?? Why are there not more pictures. That really bugs me.

I’m also curious as to why there’s so little info available on some cases – I bet that those people had a family or at least someone knew them….hmm.
