Select It Sunday: Charles and William Vosseler

This week’s Select It Sunday was selected by Bill R.: Charles Jason Vosseler and his brother William Martin Vosseler, aged three and two respectively. The boys’ case is one of the oldest family abductions on the Charley Project, and one of the more unusual ones.

The cops have almost caught up with them on several occasions, but each time the boys and their abducting father have been able to stay one step ahead. Given the ages of the children when they were taken, it’s possible they have no idea they’re missing. It’s equally possible — indeed probable — that they’ve been lied to about their mother, told she didn’t want them or that she’s dead. Both the children would be in their thirties today. Charles Sr. sounds like he could be a dangerous man. Certainly he is as calculating and cold-blooded a family abductor as I have ever heard tell of.

The Vosseler case will be mentioned on the Today Show tomorrow, Monday October 27. They also have a Facebook page set up for them.

I had not heard about this case ever before. Glad it’s getting some publicity.

Hi. Thanks so much for the extra publicity! We (neverstoplooking) are a grassroots organization and looking for all the help we can get. I have a personal interest in the Vosseler case – The boys’ mother is my aunt. CJ and Billy are my cousins. I held CJ in my arms when he was just a baby and I fell in love. As a mother now myself, I just can’t imagine one single night not knowing where my children are, holding them, and making them feel safe and loved. . . in the way that I know only I can. My aunt Ruth has suffered through over ten thousand of those nights. TEN THOUSAND. I’m interested in knowing how you came across us, and any assistance or advice you can provide would be *much* appreciated. You can get me at . Again, thank you, I’m grateful for the publicity. -Jessi

My heart goes out to your dear aunt. Nobody should have to endure what she has been going through for decades! Her only mistake was marrying this monster, a mistake that she is still paying a hefty price for. What kind of person would separate his young children from their mother? For your cousin, not being able to be a mother to her boys must be sheer torture. Hope there is a happy resolution in this case and she is reunited with her children, sans their so-called father, of course!
