Make-a-List Monday: Shoeless

A list of people who weren’t wearing shoes, or might not have been wearing shoes, when they disappeared. I’m excluding people who were last seen swimming and therefore obviously sans shoes.

Wow! The crazy list. Of all things, shoeless? You just never know until you put them in a list like this. I had no idea there were that many.

Evelyn Hartley (Oct 24, 1953). Both of her shoes were found in the house she was babysitting at. Her glasses as well. So she was without shoes and her glasses when she was abducted.

Regarding Dana Null–the August 22, 1999 issue of the Ocala Star Banner has a brief article that states that she had been found alive in Immokalee 21 years after she went missing. She told the police at the time that she and Atchison had lived together for a year after they went missing and then went their separate ways.

It wasn’t really her. It was her sister who, if I recall right, claimed to be her at a traffic stop because she (the sister) had warrants out for her arrest.

That makes more sense. I thought it was a little weird that they would “start a new life” in that fashion–him without his wallet, no shoes, etc.

Anytime people go missing with their car and the car never turns up I always think water or ravine–in this case water.

Tami Lynn Leppert comes to mind as well. When she vanished in Cocoa Beach in ’83, I believe reports said that she was barefoot and carrying her shoes in one hand.

April Vlk’s case is so disturbing. She was crying, seemed terrified, and her feet were bleeding…poor lady. I wonder what happened to her?
