Select It Sunday: Kim Larrow

Selected by Andrea622, this week’s featured Sunday case is Kim Marie Larrow. She was fifteen and a half when she vanished from an ice cream parlor in Canton, Michigan in the summer of 1981. If still alive, she’d be 48 today.

Kim was going through a rebellious phase at the time of her disappearance; she frequently ran away and was involved in drugs. It’s possible she ran away when she went missing in June 1981, but if she did, 33 years is a VERY long time to stay hidden. I found a Detroit News article when implies a member of the family could have been involved in her disappearance, or at least, that she was neglected.

It seems likely that Kim met with foul play, though possibly not immediately after her disappearance. After all this time, I wonder if we’ll ever find out.

A mother refusing to cooperate with the investigation certainly raises some red flags. How sad.

Indeed, M86! There is alot of discussion with links to articles on Websleuth … I’m wondering if this young lady was kidnapped but because of her history, nothing was done …???

It seems apparent that both Kim’s mother and fathers parenting skills were lackadaisical at best. However it should be noted that Kim had been reported missing on multiple occasions. I think its just as likely she came to harm at the hands of a so-called friend, rather then a relative.

    From a Canton Observer article

“According to a supplemental report attached to the original police report, Canton police documented that the teenager ran away from her mother’s home twice in 1979 and once in 1980.

In her 1984 interview, Lucy Larrow smiled when recalling the time Kim left home and hitchhiked unannounced to Florida with a friend.

“I remember getting calls several times that Kim ran away again,” Cooper said. “She ran with a tough group.”

I lived on N.spring and warren rd was behind me, i saw her in a car that was speeding down warren rd. and she was screaming out the window, her hair was blowing all around. i was 8. a few years ago i called the canton police and told them about it and the time of year i saw it. he said it was most likely her, but nothing really to go at that point. it has always haunted me and i wonder from time to time if i was the last to really see her . sometimes i check for updates about her case .. but never anything new is told.
