Make-A-List Monday: MPs who disappeared before they were to testify in court

This list was created by regular Charley Project blog commenter Mion. Mion notes, “Of those who disappeared, 54% were male and 46% were female. 75% (21) were white, 17% (5) were black, 4% (1) were Hispanic and 4% (1) were of two or more races. Most of the defendants they were to testify against were charged with drug offenses, or were being sued for financial reasons.”

Looking through the links the April Wiss story stood out. A similar, but resolved case, never seen on Charley, The Doe Network or NamUs, took place in my home town years ago.

The State Police billboard read; Maryann Measles, 13, missing from New Milford, Connecticut, since October 19, 1997. At the time everyone felt she was a runaway, but Maryann and her mother had just gone to the New Milford PD to report a case of felony statutory rape of a child under 14. Like April Maryann did not want to testify, but agreed to so so.

If interested a photo of Maryann and my post ‘Just 13, barely a teen. The long ago story of Maryann Measles, a hometown girl.’

“Growing up girls like Maryann dominated my adolescence dreams. But this is not a story of my teenage years. It’s an adults story about a young girl I never met…”

FYI: The left side of my Facebook cover photo taken from the Lovers Leap State Park overlook, shows the spot on Lake Lillinonah were Maryann was found.

Yeah, I thought of Maryann Measles too.

There has to be another list of those who disappeared after…though I don’t know if some had anything to do with the case. First up, Sandra Powell.

I think James Ezra Robinson and his wife were either supposed to testify or interview with police when they went missing. Don’t remember the date of their disappearance but I think it was in the 1980s sometime….

    Would Sergio Bravo Ayala count?

    • Mion July 2, 2014 / 3:44 am

I don’t know how I missed him. He’d definitely count
