It’s 11:30 and I just uploaded my missing person of the week. This week it’s Rachel Hanna Ziselman, an eleven-year-old who disappeared from California in 1977. It looks like she was abducted, but I don’t have that much information about her case.

That one has always haunted me. I always wondered if she was wearing footwear. Sandals, flip-flops, tennis shoes. I don’t think you could go into grocery stores barefoot and I wouldn’t want to walk on concrete carrying loaded grocery bags barefoot. Never was able to find out. Well, NamUs says her DNA is in the system, so hopefully if she’s in the system as an unidentified person, her family can get her back. I don’t think she’s alive. It’s possible she’s another Jaycee Dugard who is brainwashed to where she doesn’t remember who she was, but I really doubt it.
Rachel was one of my best childhood friends, and I still think of her and pray for her and her family every day. I did not see her the day she went missing, but it was common for us to go barefoot back then, even in Hughes, the grocery store nearest her house. She was an amazing friend with a loving family who deserve answers, as do all families of the missing. Hard to believe that Rachel would be turning 50 at the end of September. If Rachel’s family reads this, please know that I will never stop praying for you, for Rachel, and for resolution to this nightmare. With love, Erin
Jennifer Martin and Marjorie Luna were both barefooted and had been into stores. I guess it depends on the store but I have seen kids in the grocery store with bare feet sometimes. It is so nasty b/c the floor is dirty and the bottom of their feet are black with dirt.
I wonder if she could be a victim of serial killer Rodney Alcala.

As for being barefoot, I think it was more common back in the 1970’s and is still today in beach type cities/towns.
She’s a bit young for an Alcala victim, isn’t she?
One victim was an 8-year-old girl who he raped and tried to kill. Another is 12-year-old Robin Samsoe, who he murdered in June 1979.
I think Rodney Alcala is worth looking into in this case. He was free and in CA at the time of Rachel Ziselman’s disappearance.
Adding to that, the circumstances are similar to Robin Samsoe, who disappeared while walking to her ballet class. Both girls were blonde, about the same age, less than 5 feet tall, and they look pretty similar face-wise.
I think it’s possible.
I just checked Google Maps. Pacific Palisades is only 48.5 miles from Huntington Beach, where Samsoe was abducted.
Have you considered leaving a tip to the investigators in charge of the Rodney Alcala case? I think it’s worth calling them about.
