I am of the opinion he is dead. He had tried suicide before. As we all know, bodies often disappear in running streams, lakes, etc. His youth and immaturity make it doubtful he would have gone this long without contacting someone he cared for, if still alive. He may have also staged his suicide there, but actually committed suicide in a more private and remote second location. I agree he was an interesting person, which makes the fact he was depressed and suicidal all the more tragic. I would love to be wrong, and for us to eventually discover he is alive.
