Select It Sunday: Tina Wilson

Selected by B.: Tina Wilson, missing from Whitehall, Ohio since April 18, 2005. She was 43 at the time.

There are some unusual circumstances about Tina’s disappearance: her pet cat apparently vanished along with her and I haven’t found anything about it ever being located, but all the rest of her things were left behind, even her car. She was a practicing Wiccan and from objects left in her bedroom, she might have been doing some Wiccan religious things when she was interrupted by whatever made her disappear.

(I know almost nothing about Wicca. Though I do think the “Details Released In Missing Witch Case” headline from nbc4i was inappropriate.)

Beyond that, I don’t have much on her disappearance. I looked her up to see if I could find any additional info not already on the Charley Project, and I could only find her date of birth (September 24, 1961), some additional info about her tattoos, and her middle name (Raye) on the Ohio Attorney General’s Office database.

This is a frustrating case. It sounds like whatever happened to Tina, it was probably not good. But the only evidence of foul play is the LACK of evidence suggesting she left on her own.

If somebody took her against her wil, it would have to be more than one somebody b/c a 61 inch TV needs at least two ppl to carry it and maybe a hand cart of some kind.. Plus the cat.
Wonder if she was doing some of her Wicca stuff and felt like she got a message or a sign that should leave in a hurry.
BTW: Wiccans do call themselves witches.

I know they do. But I don’t see why the headline had to highlight her religion, especially as there doesn’t seem to be any evidence that her religion had anything to do with her disappearance. I mean, wouldn’t “Details Released In Missing Presbyterian Case” or even “Missing Buddhist Case” sound kind of weird?

Hey, Meaghan, can I make a suggestion for your make a list Monday? How about MP’s who disappeared during severe weather? Thunderstorms, blizzards, cold snaps, like that?

The fact that she disappeared with her cat and the big screen tv, and seemingly nothing else, makes me think that she left with someone she knew, either by choice or against her will. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the tv was about to be picked up by the rental place, and then her and it disappeared.

If the apartments in the building had doors leading directly outside instead of a shared hallway, her cat might have escaped when whoever took the TV was preoccupied with carrying it outside.

Meaghan, did you hear they are thinking of reopening George Stinney Jrs. case? I double checked and he was one of your guest write ups on Executed Today, had to make sure!

Yeah, I did hear that. Good luck finding the real killer after all this time, though.

I read it’s going to be a foxtrot of old vs. new laws, procedures and the such plus finding enough evidence outside of newspapers and testimony to get it opened. Also, at least one of the victims family does not want it reopened. Should be interesting, and I wonder how it all came about.

Is there actual proof the television in question existed? Or that it was moved earlier, but there was staging after the fact?

According to the case file, the tv was a rental. She had called the rental place to come pick it up, and by the time they got there a few hours later, her and the tv were both gone.

Man, this case is so weird! You’d think that someone would have seen a 61-inch TV being moved out of the apartment too.

I’m kind of confused about the timeline of things though. How did the rental pickup people know that the TV was gone if she wasn’t home to let them into the apartment? Was her front door left open? How long after the rental pickup incident was she reported missing? I’m assuming the rental pickup people have been cleared of involvement.

The fact that she left with her cat though, indicates to me that she left willingly. ie. either she left of her own volition to start a new life, or she met with foul play but she knew and trusted the person she left with. And the cat probably did leave with her; if it escaped it probably would have come back to the area (cats are territorial).

I really hope they cleared the rental delivery/pick up people. It would have been easy to take the tv and her all at the same time, it would have been very conveneent. I can picture a scenario where she chased the cat, who escaped out the open doors, and might have been holding the cat while escorting the man back to his truck standing there talking to him. A simple push and a closing of the door would very easy to do.

I was in my cable company store a few weeks ago and there was an older lady (widow) who was at the counter trying to get information about an incident that happened at her house. They would not tell this lady anything and she was pleading with them. On the way out of the store I walked over to the frustrated lady near her car and said I don’t think they were listened to anything she was trying to tell them”. She then proceded to tell me that two cable installers came to her house to install her service and that one of the cable guys was rude/sexual, toward her and she felt very uncomfortable, and she is an old lady (widower). Anyway, the next day, she came home and found that same cable guy robbing her house, he was in her bed room going thru her jewerly box. He was arrested and fired immediately, but the the cable company would not give her any details whatso ever about the guy and she was very afraid because since that, someone had come to her house and ripped all the phone wires, etc off the side ofher house. Poor thing.
