Two MPs referenced in Cracked article

This article, 5 Recent Trends That Make It Hard to Trust Police, mentions Felipe Santos and Terrance Deon Williams on the second page. (No, it doesn’t link to my site.) It talks about the eerie coincidence — or was it? — that they were both picked up by the same cop on the day they disappeared and he was the last person to see them.

Definitely suspicious. He gave the same story, too, for both of them… I have a pretty strong feeling he did something to them.

If he did, it certainly wouldn’t be the first or last time a crooked cop did something and got away with it. :/

It’s so frustrating because it’s one of those cases where it’s obvious that the last person to see these two men did something (accidentally or intentionally), but there isn’t enough evidence to do anything about it.

However, the fact that your profiles for both Santos and Williams say ”investigators believe he may simply be lying low to avoid being arrested” just dumbfounded me. Two employed, hardworking men with no history of running away disappear after being picked up by the same police officer in similar circumstances, there’s audio proof that the officer lied in at least one of those cases, and he’s fired for his misconduct pertaining to them … and the investigators are like ”Nope, it’s all a coincidence”? These investigators are either complete morons or are covering for Calkins, and we all know which one is more likely.

      Well-said as usual, Mion.

This kind of reminds me of the old “vanishing hitchhiker” story in a way. It’s just creepy all around. I wonder what Mr. Calkins is up to these days?

I don’t know, but at least two men have come forward since January 2013 (when Tyler Perry announced a 100K reward for information leading to Santos and Williams) to say that they had run-ins with Calkins, too. There is no information on the first man’s tip, what race he is, etc. But the other is a black man named Anthony Denson Jr. and he was with Tyler Perry in that news conference in January.

Denson alleges that he was on a beach in 1997, back when he was 14 or 15. He said to Tyler Perry (quote) ”Officer Calkin and three other deputies chased me down the beach, and they were gonna kill me, man”. He says he didn’t come forward sooner because he was scared of retribution. The article doesn’t say why Denson was chased, but I’m assuming there’s some meat to the allegations because Al Sharpton and a civil rights attorney are involved, and the people running that news conference found him credible enough to put him on stage with Perry.

If he is telling the truth, it makes the case against Calkins even stronger because it proves he has a history of going after minorities. <- Desmon Jr.'s allegations <- And this is the one that mentions the second, unnamed man.

Oh, by the way, I wanted to ask if you’re going to add the missing persons cases I’d sent you a few weeks ago? I sent them in two emails (one set of them on October 21st and the other on November 1st).

And … oops, I just realized I put Carol Batterman’s stats as ”6’5, 115 pounds”. That doesn’t sound healthy. I meant to put 5’5 :[

Yeah, they’re in my inbox still. Thanks for reminding me about them.
