Flashback Friday: Brian “Joe” Page

Thankfully, my brother WAS able to fix my mom’s car; we thought he might need to order parts or something. So I am relieved of my chauffeur duties. And by the way, any ideas for Select It Sunday?

This week’s Flashback Friday is for Brian Joseph Page, aka Joe, a teenager who vanished from Salem, Oregon on January 12, 1975. His car, a Volkswagen, vanished along with him and was never found either. Joe was 16.

It’s relatively uncommon these days that I have a kid’s case that I’ve got no details for. (Adult cases, on the other hand…) But Joe’s case is one of those. I have absolutely nothing on him besides what’s in the last paragraph. My search for information is hindered by how common his name is; there must be hundreds, maybe thousands, of Brian Pages out there.

Well, with what I have to work with, my theory is this: when a person disappears without a trace and there’s no evidence of foul play but also no evidence they left on their own, and their car goes missing too, often they’ve gotten in a car accident in such a way that the car can’t be found. Usually they drive into a body of water, but I remember one kid in Utah who ran his car off the road into a canyon and wasn’t found for a year or so.

At sixteen years old, Joe Page would have been an inexperienced driver, and I wonder if his disappearance was caused by a tragic accident. It’s unlikely that his car would be as missing for nearly forty years, but given recent events, it’s certainly possible. Oregon has some pretty deep lakes.

But really, I have no idea.

It is a good a theory as any, and probably more likely than not. With luck, his car will be found like those other two cases that finally got resolved. I wonder if he still has any living family out there or in the area. It must be hard on them. Off topic, are you planning to blog on the weirdness that is the Connie Mccallister case? That is turning into one big saga.

I hadn’t heard about Connie, just that she’d been found. What’s going on?
A car could also of been “parted out” after it was stolen or found abandoned, strip all the parts, send them all over the place to the chop shops, or even just send the whole thing overseas. That’s what happens to a lot of stolen cars, they don’t just got stolen by kids wanted a joyride or somebody wanting a getaway car; there’s very organized gangs who specialize in sending stolen cars over to Asia or South America.

Her rapist drugged her and kidnapped her to Mexico. He was charged with sexually assaulting Connie and now she has 3 children that she needs to bring back with her to U.S.

That first sentence, where’d you get that part? I didn’t read that anywhere. I read that the family THOUGHT at the time that her boyfriend might have drugged her and taken against her will.

That’s what Connie claimed at one point, that she was drugged and abducted and taken to Mexico, couldn’t get out and eventually her identity was changed. I did read she has three kids and they are looking for the bf she allegedly ran off with. The drugged/abducted story was in the news while you were offline, M.

Select it Sunday – Maura Murray, of New Hampshire.

Sorry I meant Maura Murray of Massachusetts, but disappeared in New Hampshire.

How many Kats are on here now? I can go by KatT. so as not to confuse Meaghan.

How about Jodi Huisentruit or Brittany Nicole Wood for Select-It Sunday?

I wonder if the unnamed friend with Page vanished, too?

    • Christy November 8, 2013 / 6:17 pm

According to Page’s sister (check out the websleuth’s link above), the friend did not vanish and his story is suspect at the very least. The car that Page disappeared with actually belonged to his friend.

The only thing mentioned about Brian’s friend on WS is that his name was David. Brian’s father seemed to think that this “David” was responsible….

I know I already suggested it, but for select it Sunday – Anthonette Cayedito

    • Celeste November 8, 2013 / 9:54 pm

What about Kimberly King? Her sister wants some sort of resolution to her disappearance.

Is there any mps that went missing on their wedding day?

    • Meaghan November 9, 2013 / 11:05 am

      I don’t think so.

I finally got around to reading up on Connie’s case. Doesn’t look like anybody twisted her arm, at least not very much.. She got married in Mexico (not to her boyfriend that her family thought had taken her there) and apparently has had contact with members of her family but not others over the years.

TW, Meaghan, you’ve got Edward Blount listed with the same height and weight as George Barksdale, which awful small for a man his age. lol

    • Meaghan November 9, 2013 / 7:34 pm

      Yeah, I’ve fixed that.

For Sunday, I vote for Jodi (one of the first cases that really caught my attention and still boggles me that she hasn’t been found) or one on the hospital list..Benita Chamberlain.

  13. Kat November 10, 2013 / 12:40 am

    Chamberlin, sorry.
