The identification of “Baby Hope”

As many of you must know by now, the unidentified child formerly known as “Baby Hope” now has a name: Angelica Ramirez. I applaud the cops for not giving up on this case over the years.

I would also note that Angelica was reportedly the victim of a family abduction. So many people assume that if the child is with a parent, it must be more or less okay. Not so.

This case has been one of my top haunters for YEARS. I spent summertime with my grandparents and other family members in CT in a town not far from the NY border. I remember when this case broke, very distinctly. Might have even been the one that really kicked me off on following MPs. I was only 14 at the time. It was so tragic and so unreal that no one knew who she was and no one claimed her. I am beyond relieved that she has been id’ed. I have not read all the stories but the ones I have read haven’t mentioned id of both people seen dumping her, a man and woman….I have to wonder what the whole story is, but I am so glad that things are coming to a head. I can’t wait for more details and justice to finally be served, long overdue. Now, on to that other poor girl in NY, Calcedonia or some such…….I have hope that many other cold cases can follow.

I am really happy Baby Hope has her real name back. I am reserving judgment until I read more about this case. It may just be that the NY Post reporter’s story is not told accurately but the sequence of events does not seem to be the same as reported in the New York Times.

    Hi Kat,

Here is my take on Cali – Who Is The Girl With No Name?

Thank you, Peter. I just clicked on the link and I was able to get a little bit of the file, I assume I have to sign in for the rest, yes? I’m not worried about the images. I’ve seen a lot worse. I think I’ve even seen her pics before a long time ago. Haven’t seen anything new really posted on Baby Hope today, I hope her case doesn’t fade from the news, the case really needs exposure.

I thought it was Anjelica Castillo?

Hyphenated surnames are common in the Hispanic countries. It’s common to hyphenate the mother’s maiden name with the father’s surname. So she’s probably Anjelica Ramirez-Castillo (or Castillo-Ramirez).

Apparently nobody ever reported Anejlica missing, and the fact she was dead was common knowledge for years. Nobody seems to of cared a fig about her all this time except the police officers who gave her a decent burial and worked so hard to find out who she was and who killed her.
One man might have killed her, and his sister who’s dead now supposedly helped get rid of the body, but a whole lot more people had failed her before and after she died.

Shame on the mother and everyone in that disgusting pathetic family. There should be some arrests as accessories. Apparantly 7 people living in that apt when the little girl was murdered. I hope the sister who helped him dispose of the body is rotting in hell. What a disgrace. I wonder why my comments on this case are not being posted? I posted to this blog all the time.
