Another one of those “I hate it when this happens” posts

One of the Indianapolis missing persons cases they’ve put up on their new website (and all the links are still broken, btw) is Kimberly Blackburn. Kimberly is also listed on NamUs.

The Indianapolis PD gives a date of disappearance as April 11, 1983. The NamUs date of disappearance is more than six weeks later, on May 29, 1983. But in the “circumstances” section it says she disappeared in JUNE 1983.

*headdesk*

That’s three different dates of disappearance, people. Make up your minds; you’re making my job even more difficult than it already is.

Given these discrepancies I don’t feel comfortable posting her case, until the dates get worked out. More’s the pity.

Can you just say “spring” or “early to mid” 1983 and note the date discrepancy?

Meaghan, I that the discrepancy lies in the date Kimberly Blackburn was initially reported missing, October 23, 1983.

My guess is that when her family filed the first missing persons report they said we have not seen her since sometimes in June. Maybe her family had asked some of her friends and they said no we have not seen Kimberly since June, but that was just a general statement given five months later.

When police did some investigating they learned that the last confirmed sighting for Kimberly was actually a bit earlier, at around 7:10 p.m. on May 29, 1983

As far as the April 11, 1983 date, it may be just a typo made by some computer geek who known nothing about the case. Regardless, you just need to add some reports list April 11, 1983 as the date Kimberly was last seen.

Thanks for the info; I feel more comfortable adding her now. I shall do so soonish. Maybe even tomorrow, who knows.

She was one of my “no photo” people. I’ll have to look through that site and see if any more of them are there.
