Ariel Castro takes plea deal, will rot in prison for the rest of his days

Ariel Castro — I need not introduce the man — has taken a plea deal to avoid a trial and inevitable conviction and death sentence.

Castro was charged with 977 counts, including aggravated murder on suspicion of ending the pregnancy of one of his captives. Under the deal, he agreed to plead guilty to 937 counts.

[Judge Michael J.] Russo told Castro that the deal would mean he would go to prison for life, plus at least 1,000 years.

That life-plus-a-millenium will probably be spent in solitary. If he so much as sticks his nose into the general population, the other prisoners will tear him to pieces.

Castro’s family, oddly enough, seem to be decent enough folks; he’s an anomaly. I feel sorry for them — imagine finding out your son, or your brother, or your dad, is such a monster. Castro’s son Anthony gave a media interview saying Daddy deserved what he got, and he doesn’t plan to visit him in prison.

His narcissism in giving his statement made my blood boil……

i’m still amazed at the girls for hanging in there and never giving up, even though after several years things probably looked hopeless.

the emotions they felt the moment they left that hell-house….it had to have been like being reborn.

    michelle knight seems particularly feisty.

and i’m glad she’s able to “forgive” him because he’s taken enough of their life. and like she said, his hell is just beginning. and there is comfort in that.

i’m not a death penalty proponent because i hate the idea of the government having the power to kill its own people but…….this one could have been an exception. but the good news is he’ll suffer his own torments, hopefully by another inmate named bubba.

I had one horrible person try to comment on here saying these girls had plenty of opportunities to escape and they weren’t really victims. I refused to let that comment go through. Yes, I’m sure Amanda, Gina and Michelle enjoyed being locked up for years on end and raped every day and starved and chained to beds and beaten to the inch of their lives and being forced to miscarry. Sounds like Castro was SUCH a swell guy and they must have had the greatest time with him…

I too was VERY angry reading about how he wanted his house left standing because he “Had many happy memories with Michelle, Amanda and Gina”. Disgusting. Then how he denied being violent and says he has an appreciation for human life. Obviously not- he killed five of his unborn children with Michelle. Obviously he used violence as a way to control these women. It’s not like they stayed there willingly. He’s delusional. So is the person who said they could have escaped. That person shouldn’t comment on a case like this. It’s clear they would have escaped if given the chance. Then using the ol’ “I was abused”. Please. There are plenty of people that are abused and move on as a productive member of society. They don’t lock three girls up for their own sick pleasure. I also read the officers in court had to tell him to look forward as he kept turning around to look at Michelle. I find it hilarious he thinks he should be able to see his daughter.

Solitary will be great for him. Although I hope the guards turn their backs a few times and let some inmates teach him a few things.

Whoever said they could escape, maybe you could share a cell with him. Sick.
