The continuing Brenda Heist saga

According to this article, citing interviews with people Brenda Heist knew in Florida, she was NOT homeless during the time she was missing, at least not all of the time. She apparently took housekeeping jobs and often lived with her employers. She saved enough money to get a car, and she also had a cell phone and a Facebook page for a time (they were both disconnected eventually), and even dated once in awhile. She said she had no children and her husband had died.

I had actually been skeptical of the whole “homeless for ten straight years” thing myself. Very few people can survive on the street that long, especially women. The reasons I think are pretty obvious. It appears Brenda was on the streets sometimes, perhaps even for months at a time, but certainly not all the time.

Needless to say, the people in Florida who helped her out and thought they knew her feel shocked and betrayed. Though, I’m sure, not as much as her actual family.

I don’t care what kind of hard time she was having, there is no excuse for going around telling people your kids are dead when they’re back home thinking somebody’s killed you. That’s just cold, and it’s ugly ugly ugly.

The found three of them. Jesus H. I kept on thinking that Jaycee Dugard was one in a million. How many others are in the same situation?

@Justin – I was wondering the same exact thing – how many others are out there? I pray that whoever and wherever they are, they will be found and freed. I am almost finished reading Buried Memories: Katie Beers’ Memories. It is amazing what horrific things these captive children and teens have to endure. I just wish we could legally do something to all of these sickos so this could never happen again to anybody. I pray that these girls’ future is filled with so much healing and blessings that they will be renewed and surrounded with so much love and look to their future with hope and passion.

I read Katie Beers’s story too. In a sick, twisted way, her getting kidnapped was kind of the best thing that had happened to her so far. I mean, she had *no* kind of mother, was pretty much left on her own, and was molested by her godfather. Nobody gave a damn for her till she went missing and was found, pretty much.
