I am seriously considering blocking all emails containing the word “Pawtucket”

I keep getting emails from some person — I’m not sure whether this is a man or a woman, they don’t give their name — claiming to have seen one of my MPs in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. They also often claim that a certain man (an actual resident of Pawtucket, according to Spokeo, but I don’t want to name him to protect his privacy) was involved in the disappearance or “should be questioned” about the MP. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of case it is — family abduction, voluntary missing adult, foul play suspected, whatever — or how old the case is.

I have gotten 49 emails from this individual (each time claiming to have seen a different MP in Pawtucket) TODAY ALONE. I got three more as I was writing this entry. This person writes me occasionally, sending mass emails like this to me every couple of months for a few days at a time. At this rate you’d think the city of Pawtucket is populated by no one except MPs, my correspondent, and the apparent serial kidnapper/killer my correspondent names as having caused all those disappearances.

I tried to block the person before but it didn’t work for some reason. I have never written back to any of their emails because I’m pretty sure a polite request to go away is not going to work. You might recall that I called the cops on a previous email stalker, but that was because I had their address. The only thing I know about this person is that they apparently live in Pawtucket and own a BlackBerry.

Maybe just blocking emails with the word “Pawtucket” will work. I’m sick of deleting this person’s emails from my inbox.

Either a lot of MPs snuck off and moved to Pawtucket, or that person is just crazy. I’m voting for crazy!

It’s indeed likely not credible but I wouldn’t necessarily be comfortable with the one to make that decisive call because even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Turn it over the Pawtucket PD/Sheriff and let them to decide to pursue it before you block them.

Wow… Way too many nuts out there…

Gawd. I try not to think about her. Hoping that eventually she’ll start showing the same lack of interest in my life that I show in hers.

Barbara Ann Hilton case is fascinating. Disappeared in 1972 and has now been located. I know there are no further details but does that mean was found alive?

I don’t know. There was some speculation that she had left on her own because of problems in her personal life, so perhaps she has turned up alive.

Is this person serious or just pranking you? I lived in NE, and trust me, Pawtucket is not hopping with MPs. If it is someone who is mentally disturbed, ok, but if it is a prank that is kind of sick and time wasting. I say block it.

well, that’s just creepy… Who the heck has time for such a thing? And if this person is spamming you, it’s likely she is doing the same to other people. I think blocking Pawtucket emails could be a smart idea, and probably won’t have much effect on running your site. I get the feeling that you don’t get many emails about Pawtucket, other than from this looney bird.

That person is a total lunatic! You would think they would find a better way to utilize their time — like actually calling the police if they’re seeing these missing people!

I’m voting for someone needing a massive medication adjustment.

Like you don’t have enough drama in your life. 🙂

Kill file those bad boys, or spam filter it for an email trail incase things extra weird.

Heads up to the cops wouldn’t hurt.

If the idiot is posting from a BB email account, should be too hard to track down.

My work was crazy yesterday. We need aerial spraying of Xanax.

    A good 2013 to you!

I would report this looney tunes to the police and then block he/she/it.

It’s a good idea to ignore the emails, as you’re doing. If you reply, then Crazy McCrazypants will know that your email address is working and his/her messages are going through, which may make the attempts to contact you even more relentless.

The emails have finally stopped — simply because the person, who was working in alphabetical order, had run through all of my cases. Claimed to have seen at least 404 MPs in Pawtucket.

There once was a nut from Paw…
    oh nevermind
