A woman just wrote to me complaining because among other things, I said the police did not charge the suspect in her daughter’s disappearance because of lack of evidence. She says there was enough evidence “in my eyes” which means what I wrote is inaccurate.
It seems to me that in this area it doesn’t matter what she thinks, that when a report says “no charges for lack of evidence” it means the authorities thought they didn’t have enough evidence. I don’t know how to say that delicately though. I have a feeling that no matter what I say I’m going to make her mad at me. Right now I’m trying to work with her and come up with a mutually acceptable wording for the casefile.

my complaint was not that you said there was not enough evidence…my complaint was the blog said she was given away. I want that corrected. I can provide you with detailed information that the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has, that would show there were witnesses that Ms. Mccarthy was the last person to have my child. Including social workers at Naval Hospital San Diego (my daughter was premmature and they were involved with her from the moment of birth to make sure I was educated on the proper programs she needed to be involved in. ) As well as an attorney in San Diego who informed me that Ms. Mccarthy ahd brought my daughter to her while she was babysitting and tried to “sell her” to one of her adoptive couples. From the moment of contact with agent arthur pineda of the FBI they treated the case like it was a big joke..nothing was done for several years. I got out of the Navy due to emotional issues (as you can imagine) and moved back home to North Carolina. My mother and I even enlisted the aid of our local congressman Burr but doors were shut in his face as well. No one would ever do anything and they have not to this day. as I said in my email I was a police dispatcher for four years and they even took my daughter out of the NCIC data base for years (that was showing she was missing). She was not put back in till Maura O’Rourke from the National Center for missing and exploited children did something about it. I’m still to this day an emotional wreck and can’t function normally. I have trust issues with people now. major trust issues. After all she was like a mother to me. So this is what I want corrected that she was given away. I have friends that were around me then. I did not drive so i was either at work on the Naval base or with my fiancee. never alone with my child.
If the information you found in the media states that the police did not charge the suspect due to lack of evidence, then send her a copy of the news article(s) which say that, then ask her to go into detail about what evidence she says they have that makes her think they DO have enough to take to trial if she want’s to convince you to change that statement on your webpage. Her claim that ‘in her eyes’ there was enough evidence may be something that she truly believes, but apparently the police and/or the DA decided otherwise, and they are probably in a better position to know more than her if they have enough evidence to get a conviction. Odds are pretty good she’s not a lawyer herself. But ultimately, I don’t see how you can change what you said on your site in good conscience because THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED.
I know these people who contact you with these kind of requests are usually strongly opinionated about these cases and have a personal connection to the MP. They don’t like anyone saying things involving the MP that they disagree with. But you can’t be bullied by these people into changing the information simply because they don’t like it. Your background on the MP is pulled directly from the media and you are repeating what they have printed… and you state as much and list documentation under source information. So unless they can show proof that the information you wrote has since changed, stand by what you wrote.

Ms. McIntire: Was the woman caretaker you provided for your daughter ever questioned? Many facts are unclear in Alexandra’s case. Maybe you can clarify. Its understandable as to why Charley Project is being so cautious in regards to their description regarding her disappearance.
She told me the whole sad story. It’s absolutely horrific, especially that the police did nothing and the abductor is now principal of a school.
There are no facts unclear to the FBI. They have all the information they need but refused to do anything at the time of her disappearance and still today 18 yrs later still refuse to do anything. It’s bad enough I had to dredge all this up today, I’m not going to sit here and defend myself or my actions. I’ll say it again my objection was the article saying she was given away. I know the FBI says there is not enough evidence..it’s a reality I’ve faced for 18 yrs. I am an emotional wreck from all this and have not been able to function normal in society since this happened. My career in the Navy was scrapped. I’ve not dated since then and I am unable to be around children for any length of time..it hurts too much. as a result I’ve distanced myself from my family by several states. so just leave me alone, the owner of the blog and I have talked, she understands what my issue was and she fixed it.
