Ann Pettway pleaded guilty in February to the kidnapping of baby Carlina White, who, as everyone and their dog groomer knows, was raised as Ann’s daughter and remained missing for 23 years until she basically found herself on the NCMEC website. Ann wasn’t sentenced until this month — not sure why it took so long — and she got a whooping 12 years in prison for her horrible crime.
It seems fair to me that she ought to have served one day for every day Carlina was missing. But the deed is done. A quote from this article:
Joy White, the mother, said her daughter had found her but: “I still haven’t found my daughter.”
She said she “can’t change how my daughter feels” when she talks about Pettway’s relatives as if they are her own.
“My daughter is here, but she’s not home yet,” she said.
Outside court, Tyson said the sentence “should have been longer,” but White said she was satisfied.
“If they gave her 200 years, it’s still not going to make up for the time my daughter was gone,” she said.
Carlina did not speak at the sentencing. She must feel very conflicted. I know she’s been to therapy and there may be a movie out of this, for which the parties involved have presumably been paid. (Not Pettway though; the law prohibits criminals from making money off of publicizing their crimes in this manner.) Of course the kidnapper claims she’s sorry, but she’s probably a lot more sorry she got caught.
Now that Carlina has been found…where’s Christopher Abeyta? Andre Bryant? Kamiyah Mobley? Donel Minor? Melissa McGuinn? Aleacia Stancil? Little Frederick Holmes from way back in 1955? For that matter where’s Harpreet Paul who disappeared from British Columbia over twenty years ago? And all the others…
I think something like this also is what happeneding to Bonita Sanders. So sad. But at least this family got a happy end-heres to many more.
It’s possible little Bonita was abducted. Her mom’s record is not good though.
gabriel johnson?? kidnapped or killed?? I’m thinking killed. I hope not
Killed, I think. That’s why I didn’t include him.
Christopher Abeyta’s mother is very very certain who took her son…no proof though…or much of anything. Don’t forget Marlene Santana…another girl kidnapped from a hospital.
From my research, I believe Christopher Abeyta’s mother is right… And it’s really sad.
Here is a YouTube video of the exact steps the abductor took:
*Hope it’s ok to post a link!
And with Kamiyah’s case….it is so bizarre that the rankles are not helping and don’t want age progressions!
With Aleacia Stancil, that is so sad the baby is born addicted to drugs… It just boggles my mind.
Along with Christopher Abeyta:

And there’s a Part 2.
Kamiyah Mobley will never be found, nor do I think that baby’s sperm and womb donors deserve to find her in the first place. It’s not at all like Carlina White’s case, where her parents actually and clearly wanted to do all they could to help find her, or Christopher Milton Dansby, whom I wish you would’ve mentioned in place of Mobley and had parents who really loved him. I’m really sorry, BTW, that there still hasn’t been a full resolution in Carlina’s case, though I’m hoping that the only things needed here is time and patience.
Another little baby who needs to be mentioned, BTW: Marlene Santana. Whom I thought of when Carlina was found in the sense that I feel that White’s being found breathes new hope in Santana’s case.
I did remember Christopher Dansby, but decided that at two years old he was too old to be considered a baby.
I forgot Bryan Dos Santos Gomes too, it seems.
I try not to judge Kamiyah’s parents. Clearly they weren’t involved in her kidnapping, anyway, and while their behavior afterwards certainly raises eyebrows, I tell myself that I’m not in their shoes and don’t know what they’re thinking and feeling.
