Confession in Lauryn Dickens case

Per several Charley Project readers: Shakara Dickens has finally admitted to murdering her nine-month-old baby Lauryn back in September 2010. A typical case of infanticide: she smothered the baby because she couldn’t stand the crying.

Shakara managed to come up with a few tears at the sentencing. She and her defense attorney claim she’s very sorry for what she did. But if this is the case I wonder why she didn’t ‘fess up to this sooner. Why she didn’t call 911 immediately and see if Lauryn could have been revived. Why she wasted so much time and money and resources from people searching, and the police investigation, and the trial.

In exchange for her admissions, she got a 19-year sentence, down from the 54 years she could have gotten. Lauryn’s body is probably unrecoverable. The most thorough article I could find is here.

sigh, another stupid teenager. But at least in the end, did the right thing and admitted her crimes. Too late for everyone involved..hopefully she will never reproduce again.

She’ll be 40-ish when she gets out, probably young enough to pop out another baby. She apparently doesn’t know how to use birth control; two kids and several abortions already by age 19 is proof of that.

I’m surprised she hasn’t already pumped another baby out.
Why’d they cut so much time off her sentence? She confessed to killing Lauryn, but they already knew she did it, and they still don’t have the body.
As for her being sorry, as my mother used to say to us when we got in trouble: You’re not sorry. You’re just sorry you got caught.

I think they wanted to find out where the body was, see if they could find it and give Lauryn a proper burial.
