The NCMEC’s notification system is not perfect, and I don’t always hear about it when someone is found. I know I must have quite a few runaway cases on Charley that have been solved. So I’ve decided to start purging: I’m going to run all my runaways through their system, and anyone who doesn’t show up is going to be taken off unless I know for a fact that they are still missing.
The internet went down this evening and I couldn’t update, and by the time it came back up it was a bit late to put anything together. But I’ve got a new missing person of the week: Hayde Beatriz Vasquez, a young Guatemalan nanny who disappeared from Coral Springs in 2004.
There seems to be an epidemic lately: in the past several days, I’ve gotten like five emails from different people who say “you forgot to update this thing that you said you updated” when in fact I did not forget. If I say I updated something, and you look at the page and it doesn’t appear to have changed, please refresh the page to make sure it really hasn’t changed before you email me. This would save us both some time. Thank you.
Another Executed Today entry from me: John of Powderham, executed in England in 1318 for claiming he was King Edward II when he was not. Later he claimed his pet cat had put him up to it. The man was in all probability bat-guano insane, possibly schizophrenic. Unfortunately the cat also paid the ultimate price for his master’s transgression.
