MP for the last week of March

This time it’s Margaret Kilcoyne, a brilliant cardiologist who vanished mysteriously in January 1980, after being struck mad. It looks like a classic case of bipolar disorder (mania) to me, except that I’ve never heard of it coming out of the blue when you’re 50 years old.

EDIT: Okay, it does happen.

Could be a nervous breakdown, or maybe she was even taking something she shouldn’t. Or maybe even a brain tumor.
Or maybe in the past her brilliance kind of distracted people from how odd she really was?

Brain tumors have symptoms besides erratic behavior — symptoms that show up way before erratic behavior. And I have a hard time believing that a 50-year-old cardiologist would suddenly start smoking crack or whatever.

I have a great book that features her case in it if you are interested.
